I once read an article in Wargames Illustrated or Miniature Warfare about a naval landing game during the Napoleonic era. Brits land in France. I think it was two part. Good pictures of the troop types and situation map. Can someone please point me to which issue this is in, Thanks a big much. |

There was on covering this in the 7YW – "Breaking Windows with Guineas" was the title based on a quote from Pitt. Date late 80's to mid 90's – sorry I don't have those magazines any more. |

Thanks 138 but I was needing a specific Napoleon era naval landing game. Thanks for trying. |

I don't have all of them up to No.189, but of my collection these are the only Napeolonic ones that might fit: No.89: Rio de la Plata, 1807 Matrix Game; Buildings for Napoleonic Naval Gaming. No.113: Death on the Nile: French 1798-99 |

While the following links are not exactly the answer to the original posting, they are perhaps still inspiring info/pics for anyone planning a naval landing party game: link firstempire.net/res/landing.htm link By the way, the 'Sharp Practice' rules include rules for naval landings, and the accompanying 'Compleat Fondler' scenario book includes some naval landing action. |

Why not adapt the Hornblower episode where he lands some French emigres back in France? That looked like it had great potential as a wargame scenario. |

Thanks guys for pitching in to help me on this. You can always count on TMP folks to give good info. Good links from Arteis. I will check out the Hornblower episode. Andygame, I will check out the buildings you mention. I will keep looking for the MW or WI article |

I'm sorry; I didn't notice the Miniature Wargames reference--I thought it was a specific WI article you were vaguely remembering. So here's a similar list for my MW collection: No.33/Feb.86: British South American Expeditions, 1806-07 No.42/Nov.86: Breaking Windows with Guineas—SYW Naval Raids No.80/Jan.90: Modelling Small-Scale Age of Sail Ships No.107/Apr.92: Dutch Rebellion vs Spain River Raid, 1584; 18th c. Pirate Decision Game; AWI Naval Kriegspiel Campaign No.112/Sept.92: A Little Trip—1815 New Orleans part 1; [Part 2 is in no.113] No.161/Oct.96: Fictional War of 1812 Summons to Surrender: British Descent upon Moose Island, 1814 [And I'm making an assumption that the War of 1812 articles might mention ships' landings in them, thus their listing.] And MW issue no.100 has an index of articles for issues 01-96 |

Not bad memory 138. Considering I got rid of those magazines in June of '96. |
