Howdy, boys!

We've been having a blast with Gutshot for over a month now locally, and decided to go ahead with a full game review in our latest episode, found here:

thed6generation.com

The episode is, as are they all, VERY long. We look at it as a week's worth of daily shows done once every other week. It's all broken down into various segments that will be outlined in the first 10 minutes or so.

However, for those who would like to just listen to the Gutshot review, feel free to jump to 2:43 where the reveiw starts.

We actually detail our search for a good Wild West game system and how we ended up turning to Hawgleg and Gutshot for what we were looking for.

It's a fully indepth review, so we go into the game mechanics, book quality, available models and a whole lot more!

So please go check it out and let us know what you think.

Thanks!

Good to see you posting here Craig. I'm only up to the Battlefoam interview, but am definately looking foward to the Gutshot section & your foray outside of GW gaming.

Now you just need to get pictures of your new buildings posted.

Don't tell the Daka Daka boys you were here, they might think you are a GW hater now! LOL

Love the show.

BTW could you guy make the pod cast a litte bit longer?

I had not listened to your show before, but I definitely will again. It was awesome! I really liked the "Battlefoam Round Table" and the D&D game report using Michael Jackson song lyrics. I laughed out loud during that one! Brilliant!

As for the Gutshot review, thanks very much. I'm glad that you and Raef liked it and that the RPG elements appealed to you both. All three of us (Murph, Paul and me) are big-time D&Ders from waaaay back, so there was never a question about bringing in some aspects of role playing into the game. There's just something about the Wild West that makes you want to do a John Wayne or Clint Eastwood impression while playing the game. What pleased me most about hearing your review is that you actually "get it." You understood what we were trying to do with the game in regards to having a fast game on the surface, but still providing lots of detailed stuff if you're willing to dig deep.

And you should ALWAYS hide behind the rain barrel!

Sounds like you guys had a blast playing it. I may try to sweet talk you guys into writing up the "Fetching Jenny" adventure for us. That sounds like it was a lot of fun, and I love the wordplay in the title. That's very clever. The bull adventure also sounds like a blast.

I really liked the tale you told about going to your grandfather's funeral. You also made some VERY astute observations about how many gamers lack basic social skills. I think most of us "bear the scars of combat of on the social battlefield." You offer good advice and I certainly hope some of your listeners take it to heart.

Now, if you'll excuse me, it's late and I need to go insult a cat while tipping my hat to a lady!

Thanks, gents! And not to appear the sycophant, but especially to the Mikes! It's great to hear feedback from the 'folks themselves', so to speak! Hopefully you'll see a bump in your traffic, as we've been getting some great feedback from listeners around the world who are saying Gutshot is exactly what they've been looking for!

I sent ya'll an email awhile back during my Wandering in the Desert Days (about a month and a half ago :) ), but I don't doubt it got lost in the shuffle, you boys are so busy!

If you've got a sec and an inclination, drop me a note at craig@thed6generation.com, cuz we'd love to talk some more with you guys!

And we just had a HUGE game of 9 players that only took 1.5 hours (when could you last say THAT?), and I gotta tell you, the theme takes you by the throat and won't let go! One gang sent a longarm gunner up into the church steeple to watch the southern approaches to the bank, and when we black hats sent our boy through the chapel to take him from underneath the cries of "You can't shed blood in the house of the Lord" and other variations were fast and loud!

Thanks for a great game experience, and I hope to hear from you all again!

Craig,

Thanks again for the review. I'll go check my e-mail to see if there's anything in there from you. We get so much spam these days that we sometimes miss things. That will change soon, though.

A game with 9 people in 1.5 hours? AWESOME! You really had things moving at a nice clip there.

Drop you a line shortly!

I ran the podcast forward to 2:43 and played it for ten minutes listening to serious verbal-navel-gazing without a mention of Gutshot.

Then I realized my error. Instead of two minutes and 43 seconds, the Gutshot review began at two HOURS and 43 MINUTES, and ran for three quarters of an hour !

Really a positive review, and encouraged me to pull out the Gutshot Rules and have another close look at them.

Yeah, the length of that podcast was a bit of a shock to me, too. But it's really good, and parts of it were very funny.

It's definitely long-form. We're looking into posting the time stamps so people can find what they want when they want it.

Um . . . Navel Gazing . . . Not as pithy as "not too horrible" and "less mediocre than expected", our two favorite reviews, but that's up there!

It's an . . . acquired taste.
