These rules seem as if they could be fun following on from Bob Duncan's Gunboat Diplomacy. Guns are categorised as [L]ight [N]ormal [H]eavy, this is needed to work out Hits/Damage, but on some of the ships' stats sheets the notation is missing. Could anyone tell me the weight of the USS Hartford's guns, and those of the USS Ottawa?

Many thanks.

What date? Weapon fit outs change depending on the date.

USS Hartford, June 9, 1863: 1-45 pdr Sawyer rifle, 2-30pdr Parrott rifles, 24-IX Dahlgren SB

USS Ottawa, May 8, 1863: 1-150pdr Parrott rifle, 1-30pdr Parrott rifle, 2-24pdr howitzers, 1-12pdr SB Napolean

Now that I look at the rules, interesting question. The CSS Manassas is rated as a "heavy", yet it only has a single, very old 32 pdr gun. In opposition, the USS Hartford can discharge 2025 pounds of shells (the IXs are rated at 80lbs each) every time it fires it's guns.

I guess I should leave this discussion to the rule set creator.

A lot of folks have asked me about the rules.I shall update them directly but they are not designed to be "dead" accurate cannon ball for cannon ball. They are fun convention rules and folks love it.

and as to the question..unless specified as heavy or light, all unspecified guns are normal.

Hey, David, I have nothing against beer and pretzel rules. Especially, if you bring the beer :-)
