Extra Crispy | 21 Jul 2009 7:13 p.m. PST |
I'm wondering which sites you'll visit most when Bill pulls the plug next February? Since the Yahoo groups will certainly be gone by then, and Google will have been taken out by a pre-emptive strike by Microsoft, I'm guessing most people will end up using a tin can with a string out one end. Me, I'm going to start a bulletin board of my own for gamers of THE ONE TRUE SCALE. |

Did I miss something??? TMP is going away February 2010??? I seriously hope this is a really bad joke Mark. If not, you have done serious harm to my current mental state . . . . . Jeff |

What Jeff said! I shudder to contemplate such a possibility. |

Saginaw | 21 Jul 2009 7:40 p.m. PST |
Oooh-kay. Either someone just spilled some extra secret "beans", or I haven't been paying any attention here. Something tells me Bill's PM box is being stuffed right about now. |
| Toaster | 21 Jul 2009 7:43 p.m. PST |
The "rumour" was posted by extra crispy, that should be all anyone needs to know. |
| JRacel | 21 Jul 2009 7:46 p.m. PST |
If this is a joke by Mark, it is REALLY not funny. The sinking depressed feeling it caused me was FAR from funny. This is one of the few refuges I have to try and remain sane, so messing with it may lead to me and others around here becoming unhinged. |
| Capt John Miller | 21 Jul 2009 7:54 p.m. PST |
Dude, seriously, I am so not laughing at this. This is so not a joke. It's not even funny extra crispy. There are a lot of folks who frequent TMP just to know what is going on in the hobby. Seriously, though what went through your mind to play such a cruel tasteless joke like this amongst us? We know the one true scale! We know the one true World War 2 game! We know the one true Ancients game! We know the one true skirmish game! We know the one true Sci-Fi game! We know the one true RPG game! We know the one true (Insert favorite genre not previously mentioned) game! We just want to prove it to everyone else on these hallowed forums.
Think of the FLGS! Think of the advertisers! Think of the curmudgeons! Think of the experts! Think of the children! Oh, the humanity!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

I will have to start over on The Stamp Collector's Page, and try to up my post count there. Since I haven't done any stamp collecting since 1979, I doubt my heart will be in it. |

maga-somethings
Well, at least I'd get some hobby news on the loo. |
Wyatt the Odd | 21 Jul 2009 8:21 p.m. PST |
It's a joke. It's based on the earlier postings about the rumor of Yahoogroups going away. In actuality, it is Geocities that will disappear. TMP is like the Red Cross – you try not to shoot at it, and it takes money to operate. Wyatt (who figures an hour of panic was sufficient to overload the "Editor" e-mail address) |

Well, if it is true, I'll probably save bucketfulls of cash and be able to work on the Alps of lead that I have at home. Well, maybe not. I'm a member of several other wargaming forums so temptation will still lie in wait, but hopefully on a much smaller scale

It would be like cutting the throat of the miniature underground. Where would you find new brands or ask questions and have an answer in less than.08 seconds? We would all have to go to GW and Reaper
Just in case, what is the next best site? :( |
| shelldrake | 22 Jul 2009 1:13 a.m. PST |
If I had to choose a forum to haunt upon the demise of TMP, then I guess it would have to be Lead Adventures. |
| database error | 22 Jul 2009 2:07 a.m. PST |
I'm sure if TMP really did look like going away someone else would step in to take over or start up a new site to fill the gap. Things would carry on just as before. |
| Griefbringer | 22 Jul 2009 2:09 a.m. PST |
TMP going down would be a sure sign of the coming of Arockalypse. In case this really happens, I would recommend putting on your Zardoz suit and bricole, taking your own broomhandled Mauser and going to the street to take out as many zombies as you can. |

Extra Crispy is lucky we don't have his address He's not that lucky. LOL. or the number of "free magazine trials" and other freebies that would be coming his way would overload his poor letter carrier. No I wouldn't do that to anyone, especially Mark for having a sense of humor (and currently a very attractive member portrait) |
| MechanicalHorizon | 22 Jul 2009 12:17 p.m. PST |
TMP will be shutting down because GW issued a C&D order to TMP for infringing on their IP due to the extensive use of the letters G and W, which are copyrighted by GW. Again GW, the evil empire, ruins another forum. They can't run a decent forum of their own, so they figure nobody else should have one. |
| nazrat | 22 Jul 2009 12:42 p.m. PST |
Wow, that's a long, long way to go just to have yet another painfully inept poke at GW. |
| Jovian1 | 22 Jul 2009 12:52 p.m. PST |
It's a long way to Tmperarry, it's a long way to go. Well, I for the umpteeth time will reiterate it was a bad idea to use this as joke about this forum. As for Extra Crispy – he thinks he's a wit and as always – he's only HALF right. |
