Can't get their web site to come up on my computer, tried turning on pop up blocker, putting them as a trusted site, nothing seems to work. It will come up though on my blackberry. They are the ONLY web site that I have this problem with. I've looked at 50 other suppliers web sites in the past couple weeks. Don't know if anyone else has this problem or any suggestions.

Works OK for me:
odgw.com

I haven't been able to get it to open for the past couple of weeks either. I just tried the Gorb's link above and nothing happened.

Works for me. Maybe your ISP has some DNS issues with it?

the Gorb19 Jul 2009 1:57 p.m. PST

I'm using Firefox 3.
It just worked for me again.

As an independent verifier, worked for me, too

I am also using FireFox

I have the same difficulty as danlewistn. I've tried going straight to the site and using the Gorb's link. Just get a blank page and 'waiting for odgw.com'. Again, it's the only site like this, which is a shame as I just bought General Quarters and FAI and have been trying to register and get at the downloads.

I'm using Firefox.

evbates19 Jul 2009 2:56 p.m. PST

Internet Explorer works for me.

the Gorb19 Jul 2009 3:14 p.m. PST

My guess is that the IP has changed recently on that website and your DNS servers haven't been notified yet.

Try accessing it through the IP:
72.167.173.126

Thanks Gorb – that worked! Been trying to get on using various computers and browsers since January…….

the Gorb19 Jul 2009 4:03 p.m. PST

Good. All domain names resolve to an IP address.

If you have trouble connecting, you can go to:
samspade.org

Type in the domain name you want the IP for and click the 'whois' button.

It will return a line like this with the IP address:
odgw.com = [ 72.167.173.126 ]

Just paste that IP into your web browser and if the site is truly up then you will be good to go.

PS- You might want to ask your Internet Service Provider why you can't access it through the domain name. Sounds like crappy service to me.

That's frustrating…it didn't work for me.

@danlewistn – Contact the support people at your ISP.

Here is some history. Others are having same problem and it's been ongoing.

I ran trace route and sent the results to ODGW tech support.

Does not work for me!

ODGW Kenny20 Jul 2009 5:15 a.m. PST

Hello, First I'd like to sincerely apologize for all the frustrations everyone has had with trying to access our web site. This is an ongoing problem that we at ODGW have tried and are still trying to resolve.

The inability of some web browsers ability to access the site and others working fine has been the MOST difficult to pin down. We have had multiple people with a wide range of technical abilities from the ISP and other sources try and find some commonality and be able to reproduce the problem on a consistent basis with no success. We have reviewed our code for the site, changed ISP, and an array of other more technical tricks.

Bottom line is there are some out on the internet who cannot access ODGW.com on their PC and others who can from any browser (or in some cases multiple browsers).

The reason remains a mystery.

However there is hope.

We are ripping out the old code and are putting up a new site with simpler code and hopefully a more stable IP for DNS resolution. The plan is to have this up by Oct / Nov (or sooner).

We will make an announcement on TMP once we are ready to go live.

I would like to thank all of you for your continued patience and support. We at ODGW understand the frustrations and have plenty of our own to share. <grin> We continue to strive for supporting gamers and their interest in our products.

Sincerely,

Kenny Noe

P.S. For anyone who is trying to register their product or gain access to download files, please email us at CinC [at]odgw[dot]com and we will resolve to get you taken care of; one way or another.

As Kenny said, thank you for your patience.

For Kenny and Bob,

I tried Gorb's link using netscape/Mozilla and IE 8. This was at work – as we are a university, we have no restrictions on web access and T1 access.

While it did work, it takes an unacceptably long time to load. Most people would just shrug and hit cancel or stop. It also tends to make suspicious people like me (who might not know that ODGW is a legitimate company) think "what's it trying to do to me?".

My web skills are very dated, but it seems to me there's far, far too much code you are trying to execute at once. It was significantly faster in IE, but still took a long time to load.

No offense meant guys, but I often see sites that are painfully slow loading like this one and for some of them I know it's because the designer is assuming that internet connectivity is as fast as it is when testing from his own computer.

Thanks Tim. I also run into that problem while at work. At Home I never have had a problem. I suspect that there are multiple issues involved here which tend to make things very difficult. Suffice it to say one of these issues is the website code. Our IT man tried a rebuild and thinks that it maybe part of the problem. Precisely what you mention. Also there is the code, which is not popular with him or us as it has always given us some troubles, even after updates. There may also be some issues with how the site is handled by some ISPs. many problems appear to crop up from people's work and I have not been able to get on the site at some hotels. The IT guys says update and move on so that is what he is doing. We are building a new site with new code. Now we have to wait for the great coding genies to do their work, just like the little elves in the poor shoe makers shop. One day we will awake to a sparkling new website. But it may take a while. :)

DanLewisTN21 Jul 2009 3:45 p.m. PST

Should I blame it on Comcast…or is that just too simple? For those have problems, who is your ISP provider?

All I can say is, thanks to everyone who tried to help and thanks to ODGW for listening and responding! Hopefully someday I'll be able to go on line and enjoy the web site and see what all you have to offer.

Ditto Tango 2 121 Jul 2009 7:38 p.m. PST

Bob, I'd get another IT guy. He's hurting you – not deliberately, of course.
