I recently fought out the first day of Eckmuhl. Report and photos on my blog:

It was a fun scenario, nicely balanced but the quality of the French told in the end. Davout could absorb a few setbacks due to bad luck, Rosenberg's austrians could not!

Happy gaming!

Excellent stuff!

I may be blind, but what set of rules are you using?

Gnu200019 Jul 2009 5:33 a.m. PST

Cerdic, I use my own rules. There is a link on the blog to a yahoogroup where you can download them

cheers

How did you to the overlays for movement onto the photos?

The photos were edited in photoshop. I added a vector layer with the arrows drawn on and then faded this layer to 50% intensity before merging the layers to get the final effect.

What did you use for source material to develop your scenario?

Dear Sir,

Thank you for the report. I particularly admire the photos and the tech talk about how you photoshopped them. My newly released scenario booklet, "Battles for Empire", has one scenario devoted to the first part of the second day at Eckmuhl (before Napoleon arrives with overwhelming force). See: napoleonbooks.com If you should ever give it a try I would very much enjoy hearing about yor experience.

All best,

James Arnold

Mr. Arnold,
I have a scenario/rules book by that name, I do not think it is the same however. What rules are the scenarios written for?

Dear James,

We (Napoleon Books) just published Battles for Empire two weeks ago. The scenarios are "vanilla", meaning they are not written for any specific rule set or figure scale. We debated this philosophy. Some suggested catering the scenarios to the most popular rule sets, which probably was a good marketing idea, but we doubted our ability to understand other rules well enough to do this. We decided to stick to our (self-perceived!) strengths: historical research, clear writing, and wargaming imagination.

As the days pass we will see how well we hit our marks.

All best,

James

I believe there is also a colonial rules/scenario book with the title "Battles for Empire" by Chris Leach.
