Thanks to you both! This range and period is really a diamond in the rough. You come to the Crimean war period to game, but get hopoked once you start to do some research. For those less familiar, there were many amazing feats performed. Remember hearing about the "Charge of the Light Brigade"? It came from this period. The term "The Thin Red Line" , in describing the British, also originated from this conflict. An excellent opportunity to find out why! Take a break from the "wall to wall" tanks or blocks of sharp sticks and discover a little known conflict that happened between Napoleonics and the ACW. There are many new uniforms, units and batles to play. A very nice (and not well publicized) period for a nice change of pace. David's excellent Yahoo Group is the best way to find out more! Nice link, Autos da fe! Thanks for adding that, here! I feel that anything that will help new folks discover this period is going to be a positive suggestion. Here in the USA, this period is one of those "gold nuggets" that seems to remain "out of sight- out of mind". There's a lot of fun to be had with the Crimean War. For most, it's like you and your buddy both starting from scratch as odds are few folks have anything more than a basic knowledge of the era. A level playing field (no pun inferred) is always fun for a couple of like-minded gamers to research and share their findings. "I" sure remember the fun and excitement of discovering new periods with my gaming buddies and these days, there are fewer undiscovered periods left that is well covered with minis. "I" feel this is one of them. Best Tom Dye GFI |
