Well, when Splintered Light brought out their line of fuzzy 15mm Woodland Animals (Druid's Children) I picked up a lot of them. One problem has been that the bad animals had not yet been released so I decided some East Riding Miniature's Frog Warriors would fill in until David McBride got the bad guys out. I also know that Cloudcaptain's wife was painting his good Woodlanders so I thought some bad guys would allow us to get in a few games while I painted more hordes of cute animals. My wife was not happy I painted frogs over badgers and Hares, but frogs were easier and I was all about getting some figures painted.

These were undercoated true blue or leaf green and then dry brushed a lighter appropriate color. I block painted the details and then washed the blue figures in Army Painter Dark Tone and the Green ones in Strong Tone. The bases were painted green and I added some texture to them for sand. The sand was painted and inked while the green "water" was varnished with a gloss coat. I then added some static grass (very hard to see) and longer grass to add a little detail. Overall I am happy with how they turned out.

what size are the bases and what are they made from?

really like the figures.

Bases are all standard 3/4 inch washers. I picked up a really big box of them and have been basing all my 15mm minis on them. My storage boxes are lined with very strong magnetic sheets, so they stick down very well for transport.

G'day Jeff,
I think I remember you mentioning you had these ages ago.
Great to see you painted them up, they look fantastic! Makes me want to repaint my ones, that's for sure.
You must be very happy with them. :)
Cheers,
Ben.

I have a few ERM figures and they are pretty nice.

Cool thing about evil frogs; if you defeat them you can eat their legs.

Those are awesome.

So how do they compare size wise to Splintered Light Miniatures.

I have been Reading the Redwall series. Just found out about it this year. It is perfect reading for the Druid's Children.

What do you use to clean your brushes after using the Army Painter stuff?

Also is there a place to pick up these frogs in the U.S.? The shipping charges at East Riding Miniatures seem rather high to the U.S.

@Triathlete2000,

1. They fit will with the splintered light minis. The frogs are a little big, but not in a way that makes them look strange. The issue is that the frogs are upright on their long legs so it makes them taller than the Woodlanders.

2. I use paint thinner with the Army Painter product since it is NOT water based.

3. Syr Hobbes carries them in the US, but you might email them to see what is in stock and what would have to be ordered. syrhobbswargames.com

I think Splintered Light also plans to produce some frogs in the future.

Hope that helps.

Jeff, will you stop putting me to shame with such excellently painted minis!

LOl! Once again, excellent stuff!

Cheers

Jeff, will you stop putting me to shame with such excellently painted minis!

Not sure that is possible, last time I checked your minis looked pretty darn good. I'm just happy that I am finally getting some things painted. Used to just look at all my 28mm lead piles and never paint them. While I have a large lead pile in 15mm, I am at least adding paint to part of the metal.

Anyway, you spend a lot of time on your blog rather than painting and we are all grateful for the efforts you put in.

For any U.S. people who want to save some money on shipping and want to buy these frogs, they can be found at
syrhobbswargames.com

Tony of East Riding Miniature's pointed me to Syr Hobbs Wargames. Sweet. Saved me about $20 USD on shipping.

Now if I could get Jeff to paint mine up I would be all set. ;)

Triathlete2000,

I have a hard enough time painting my own stuff! Mine came from Syr Hobbs as well. Just got a few in this week that were on back order.

They are fairly easy to paint, so I am sure yours will come out well.

Best of luck,

Jeff
