I've got the Samurai bug as of late and am
kind of looking for rules. a friend of mine
has a copy of Katana. Any fun?

fairoaks02416 Jul 2009 9:32 a.m. PST

yes, had them for a long while,

they play very well, give a fun game, and some of the scenarios included are well designed,

i commend them to the house.

regards

jim

I can't speak to Katana, however the LOTR SBG variant noted in the following link appears to be very rich.

I have them, read them and would love to play them, but lack opponents. They would be my prefered Samurai game.

The movement and combat system is very well done, but the morale system needs to be completely reworked along with the choice to stand or withdraw after combat. The results from that part of the game make for a very bloody affair.

I don't know. Bloody seems to be right on the money. Also once engaged, it was difficult to disengage
