Subject: C-47
Manufacturer: Armaments in Miniature link
Scale: 1/100
Medium: Resin
Price: $25 USD

The kit consists of a one piece fuselage/wing/tail assembly and several resin detail parts (antennas and equipment bundles). This is another nice AIM kit that required minimal clean up and went together well. I finished this kit in the simple green over gray color scheme. Instead of the normal window treatments I decided to paint the windows as if the C-47 was over the continent in the early hours of D-Day. Tracers, flak, and the flaming trail of a less fortunate C-47 are depicted in the various windows. Decals are from my bits box…even the ones depicting the masking tape over the hinges on the cargo doors (can't have the static lines getting cut on the sharp edges).

Recommendation: Highly recommended.

That is fantastic…but I don't want one…I want yours!

Wow! That looks great!

Kevin, you keep setting the bar higher.

Love the windows. Have been watching too much Band of Brothers?

Does this kit come "in flight" only, or does it come with landing gear?

miscmini Fezian16 Jul 2009 5:11 p.m. PST

Thanks all.

Binhan, surprisingly I've only seen a few scenes of the Band of Brothers and none of them were of the drop. I spent 4 1/2 years in the 82nd though and was surrounded by the history.

Murphy, the kit has the gear cast in the retracted position – in flight only. Kevin

Kev -

We have to get AIM into making 1/144s, too. Good looking C-47 kit, 'course your modeling abliities have nothing to do with how good that kit looks…. HA!

Good job!
