link I found this fascinating. It has a 3D printer and 3D scanner working together. If it could scan stuff and make a smaller version of it you could miniaturerize weapons or other pieces of equipment and have exact copies of them without sculpting. Probably for a while there are easier and cheaper ways to do it, but eventually the technology will get cheaper. Heck you might be able to do it with reenactors and miniturize them. People could have miniatures of themselves in their reenactment uniforms. |

As another advantage if you are able to make things with moving parts, as they can, it could be useful for doing terrain. If you make a terrain piece, say a sci fi bunker, for 28mm figs, you could scan it and make copies for 15mm or 10mm or 6mm figs possibly. |

We have one here at the college. One of the inputs to get one was that the High School already had one and why would students come to a program that had less than the did in High school |

Desktop printer costs $14000! Better start saving now. The mind boggles at the wargaming applications for these machines. |
