Some of you may remember my drop ship project from last year: link Well, I've recently resurrected it. (Don't all die of excitement!) I've read a fair amount and have cast a few one sided molds of my own stuff fairly successfully. However this project is getting more complex especially as i want to model a version with a hollow detailed interior! I think I am therefore straying into territory where degassing and spin casting and other arcane (to me) techniques are required. So, what I'm looking for is someone that can provide me with some practical advice and support about modeling with resin casting in mind. I guess I'm looking for a mentor or a coach of sorts. Someone that could aid in the modeling process to ensure this is castable. Someone i could email and talk to with questions, and can add more from experience than I have managed to pick up form articles on the web. Further, if the casting is beyond my capabilities in my garage, I need someone that could undertake some contract casting. I'm based in the UK Any offers? |

I could try to help you with some things. I've done some One piece and two piece mold making and casting. I did it pretty casually but there was definitely some trial and error for me. I'm guessing that there are a ton of people with far more extensive eperience than I have though. I really don't have experience with the de-gassing though, so I may be of little help to you. You're project look great, but very complicated for molding and casting. At any rate, I'm in the states, feel free to email me anytime. You might try talking to Craig Acheson at Acheson Creations. His light weight resin is really great stuff. |

I am in the states as well, but I have done many two-part molds for vehicles. Drop me a line, I will help if I can. BTW- very nice piece, I hope all comes out well. -Will (www.mondayknight.com) |

You might try the freshwatermodelsspincasting group on Yahoo. It is dedicated to spincasting metal and resin. There is at least one fellow from the UK on the list. Regards, the Gorb |

Do a bit of searching on the internet as well. There are lots of articles there, and even here, in the message archives to help get you started. |
