I've read several general accounts of the battle of Gettysburg. They all mention Spangler's Spring to a greater or lesser extent.

Can anyone recommend a book (I'm assuming here a small portion of a book on the 2nd or 3rd day of the battle) or online reference that has some specific information about Spangler's Spring? What was the terrain around it like? Were there any noteworthy anecdotes from that area other than "Reb and Yankee alike drank from there"? How far was it, at various times, from the closest Union and Confederate units, etc.

Anything that can point me to more than the paragraph (if that) you find in a general history of the battle would be appreciated.

Harry Pfanz has a bok on aspects of the second day that is probably worth a look. I don't have my copy at hand, but it's very detailed.
