Hey all! Well I finally got some more shots up of my miniatures using a very nice camera
I forgot to cross-post in the discussion forum for an earlier post, so thought I would now
in my last three blog entries I've included a BOATLOAD of Napoleonics, some World War 2, some ACW, and even some Lord of the Rings
so please do come by and enjoy the eye candy!:D link Lots more coming in the next few days, including FINALLY the final part of my 10mm Napoleonic AAR
it was a NEAR near battle
as well as FINALLY a review of Osprey's new "Armies of the Napoleonic Wars" book. Check for it over the next day or two! |

OK – Stop doing this to me! I'm still green over the first set of photo's and now you add these to the pile Did you ever find the name / details of the camera ( TMP link )? Can I also ask how you made the wall in this shot picture ? It looks like real stones stuck together and then dry brushed – if so how are they held together? Thanks in advance Andrew blog.kings-sleep.me.uk |

These are fantastic photo's. I don't play 10mm or Nepoleonic but I'm still green with envy! It's photo's like these that make your blog a pleasure to visit time and again. BigLee Blog link |

Nice figures and a great set up. Good work mate. Good camera work – did you use a tripod and what did you use for lighting? Neil reinforcementsbypost.com (painting service) |

Wonderful picture-congratulations. It shows clearly the advantage of the smaller scales: you get a big battle effect in a fairly compact space. I imagine the area pictured being no more than 2' x 2'. If this is further scaled up to cover a 6' x 12' (plus) table – WOW! |

10mm is for me a really nice compromise on scale. Well done. |

Hey guys! Okay, business first; the camera is a Nikon D40X. I found this info on a website about it (I am camera-ignorant.) 10 megapixel DX format CCD (1.5x FOV crop) Nikon Image processing engine (as D80 / D200) 3D Color Matrix Metering II, 420 pixel sensor (as D80 / D50) New Multi-CAM530 three area AF sensor ISO sensitivity range 100 – 1600 plus HI 1 (3200 equiv.) 3.0 fps continuous shooting, unlimited in JPEG All I know is that it is a LOT better than the crappy one I've got! I did use a tripod. The lighting was very sketchy
I have six track lights above the table, and also my painting light that I aimed RIGHT at whatever I was photographing
I think that definitely helped, because otherwise that room is awful dark. The stone wall is actually little pieces of bark that you can buy at a pet store to cover the bottom of a lizard cage! Just undercoat it black and drybrush a few times with gray, then stick them together with hot glue (although I am sure white glue would work) and voila! That is how I do all my stones and rocks, and man it REALLY works nicely
something about the texture of the bark comes out, at that scale, as rock. I agree on the 10mm
until this army I had only ever had 25mm and 15mm, and the 10s ARE a nice size for larger scale tactical games, and that is actually VERY nice
when I game with them the movement is so key, whereas with 25mm they are a bit stuck in a "move straight at the enemy" unless the table is nice and large (mine is only 4 x 6.5 feet) I have a TON more photos to come, so please do keep stopping by!:) And thanks for the kind words
honestly the guiding principle behind my blogging is twofold; first, to share my enthusiasm and work in toy soldiers because I don't have many people to share it with in real life, and second to just put more eye candy out there for anyone who is surfing the web looking for toy soldier photos
I've done it enough myself!:D |

Wonderful. You have captured my minds-eye vision of MY game room
BUT
Do you have a tutorial or some description of the table? How you made it? You would do a real service to the TMP community I think
Thanks! |

Hear! hear! Id love to see how you got that table made. Thanks for posting the photos. |

Thanks for the camera info – looks like I need to sweet talk the wife as she has one of those Maybe its time I stopped using the 'snappy cameras' and phone ones and crank out the big boys we have

Hey all! If you do a search for the "table" label in the blog it should (in the earliest entries) detail how I made the table at least a bit:) I should probably do something more in-depth at some point
Also, I just posted the FINAL results of the Battle of Aroldo Valley, my latest 10mm Napoleonic test, so if you enjoy AARs please do come by, give it a read, and offer any suggestions you may have! More high res photos coming tomorrow!:D |

Hey all! I put up another set of 10mm Napoleonic photos, this time of the French cavalry coming at a bunch of British squares! So please do come by and take a look, and while I know it is tradition not to respond to a thread once responses have already been made ;) feel free to make any suggestions/comments/questions on the new photos! link Thanks, hope everyone enjoys! |

Really, really nice! Haven't seen that many 10mm Naps before. The mass efect is excellent. What make are they? Also glad to see that your photos were from a decent distance too. Many people posting images of their work on TMP pull such tight focus that they show up every little micro touch so even where the figures are well painted they highlight things that the human eye could not see unaided and spoil the picture. Great table top too! |
| Lord Ashram | 15 Jul 2009 8:14 a.m. PST |
Hey! The figures are generally minifig. Yeah, I am surprised that more problems don't show up in the photos I have taken of all the different figures across all the scales
I find that photos usually magnify every single little problem (for example, check out the officer for the 25mm ACW unit
blue all over his straps!) but this camera seems to be a bit forgiving as far as that goes. Anyway, glad you enjoyed! |

"The figures are generally minifig" Hang on! Since when have they made 10mm? |

Beautifully done, Lord Ash
just gorgeous work all around. I second the tutorial on your elegant terrain! Cheers, Bob |

Wow. That was my first reaction. And my second reaction. And third. Went straight for the 'bookmark' button when I finally managed to pry my jaw off the floor. Good job (and damn you for making the rest of us look inadequate)! |

I dont play 10mm or Naps (although am toying with it) and you sir are a BAD man for encouraging me
|

Napoleonics has no Turrets or Tracks Bucco. Stay well clear and dont sully a Real Mans period with your powdered wig dandyness. But yeah, that is a ridiculously amazing setup. Just finished a game of P&C on about £150.00 GBP of Kallistra Hexon terrain using massed Perrys and Vitrix. And it dosnt look as nice as your ten mills. |
| Bucco Bruce | 21 Jul 2009 2:54 a.m. PST |
Thats cos your 28mms are covered in
stuff
and the terrain looks like a hex game. |
