Who produces a decent Stuka?

I'm waiting for Mark at Raiden to do one but until then I need a staffel of them for a BTH Battle of Britain campaign next year.

GHQ do one, lots of parts tho.

GHQs are VERY nice. I havea 16 of them by Scotia, simply because they are decent and affordable.

boggler10 Jul 2009 6:06 a.m. PST

I need a similar number so GHQ and C-in-C are not affordable.

How do the Skytrex, Skyraider and Scotia Stukas compare? (I'm not a big fan of Navwar)

gweirda10 Jul 2009 6:33 a.m. PST

dunno about the quality, but you can get a cheap --if small-- start by picking up Green Dragon's clearance stuff…

If was for the Ju 87D/G then I'd go with the one from H&R (Navwar), it's far superior to the Scotia one but I've not bought any of the Ju 87B's yet.

Boggler:

I know the feeling of waiting for Raiden to put out specific planes!! Been waiting for that I-153 for almost two years now :)

C-in-C's Ju 87 D is a perfect rendition. You can even make it with its centerline bomb extended in its swing! You have to epoxy the wings, wheels, and bombs on. The wings glue very firm with metal epoxy glue.

If you find that you wanna spend a like more, go with those. I recommend them 100%.

I would go with the Navwar models (Ju-87B)if you are buying several. I believe Kevin at Green Dragon is out of them at this point though. GHQ's can be used for a Ju87D also, but a but pricey if you need 6 to 12 of them and not around for BoB. The main thing is getting some nice decals and an accurate paint scheme. Here's a pic of my Navwar models painted up for the Balkans.

The Navwar Ju87B is a pretty good model. I agree with Microbiggie this is the one to go for if you need 12.

Nice paint job, Mark. As are all your minis. I visit your flickr page a lot, in hopes of new eye candy to see!

It's even more versitile if you add a couple of fuel tanks(if I remember correctly from GHQ's Me-109 pack),one to each wing, as I did to Make a Ju-87R.

Ditto here – I've asked Raiden a few times over the last 18 months for a BofB Stuka. Best I've got yet is they are hoping to get one out at the end of this year. Whilst new releases are slow to come from Raiden they are always well worth it when they do arrive. To be fair they do say that new models will be slow to come out and its their hobby as well rather than a full time job. They are also offering models over a wide range of eras so that reduces the chances of a particular new model being of direct relevance to any individuals requirements. As much as I'd like them to concentrate on finishing a broad Battle of France/BofB collection before moving onto another project its not going to happen in that ordered style so I'm waiting…

@Microbiggie

Nice Ju87 – where did you get the decals?

Microbiggie11 Jul 2009 6:36 a.m. PST

Timmo, The decals are from I94. Dom does some really nice national markings but no lettering at this point.
I keep waiting for Raiden to do the skis for my Finnish Fokkers, and P40B/Cs for the AVG and I really would like some different Pe-2s or 3s from them. I really like their SB-2s though.

Yes, I'd really like a few more Soviet planes from them. I guess the Eastern Front is not their thing :)

boggler12 Jul 2009 9:26 a.m. PST

I know Mark's had health problems in the recent past whioch led to a slow down in output but of late there's been quite a few new releases and re-masters coming from the Raiden production line, so fingers crossed :O)

Just got an email reply from Mark – Raiden Stuka should be out next month.

Timmo uk17 Jul 2009 10:21 a.m. PST

Stuka – next month – interesting.

Microbiggie – which 1-94 pack did you use for the lettering on your stukas?

Microbiggie17 Jul 2009 7:33 p.m. PST

Timmo,
I believe they were LB 101 & LW 101. You have to cut out each letter or character though.

Scale Specialties just released their 1/300 scale sheet for Stukas (and one for Me 110). Aimed for BoB but also covers Africa and one or two to the east. Will be introduced for us at Historicon this coming week – see I-94 (Dave Winfree). Info on our URL, ss-sms.com.

Thanks for looking,
