A while back it seems everyone was complaining about Hotz slow delivery and unresponsiveness. Have things improved? Does anyone else sell his mats? They look great but I dont want to wait til next spring if I order a couple. |

I've been waiting almost two months for a mat. As seems to be usual there's been no communication. Last time I bought a mat from him the same thing happened but the mat arrived the day after I posted here. Hope it works this time. Excellent products, inconsistent service, lousy communication. That seems to be the Hotz way. |

I just placed an order for a quarter mat with 2" hexes, then emailed him to change the hex size to 1.5", I got confirmation today that my quarter mat with 2" hexes will be ready in about 5 weeks. Hopefully they received my revision email, I'd hate to wait 5 weeks for a mat with incorrect hex sizes |

I have a friend who is now waiting at 10 weeks for a non-custom order. |

Its this kinda stuff that keeps me away from Hotz. I hear great things of the mats, but only after a LONG wait
I went a different route for my mats.

richarDMB, Would you care to share your alternate source? |

I whip them up myself (with the Litko hex maker) or went through Monday Knight Productions. Though I have seem Hotz in person, and they are crazy good, I could not wait these (upwards of 2 months) time frames, or else I would have ordered thru Hotz

BAD news looooooong wait- communication only after I initiated. Updates on delivery innacurate. GREAT news It finally arrived- excellent product – gave me one extra double sided hex 1/4 mat free of friggin charge for the trouble. |

How does this guy remain in business? |

Excellent produce. If you're willing to wait, you get a great value for your money. What I don't understand is why anyone is still complaining publiclly about his service. The delays and lack of communications have been known and talked about for years, so if you don't want to wait, don't order. If you do, don't complain. Dan

What Dan said, I have 5 of his mats, waited and they arrived and are worth the wait. Patience is a virtue they say. Ken |

Thanks for the info guys. About what I was afraid of but I do like the fact that no one says they never got their mats. Al |

I knew about the long lead time when I ordered. As I understand its due to the mats being done in a batch when enough have been ordered. I waited about two months and to be honest it was worth it – the mat is superb. As above if you can't wait go elsewhere, but if you want the best you'll wait. For me the mat arrived before my models were finished so it really didn't matter. If you're in the UK I think Dom's decals has a few Hotz mats left in stock although the first batch sold out very quickly. |

My mail went into his spam folder the first time I tried to contact him. He found out from this forum and got back to me. I mailed him again a month ago and haven't heard from him. I suspect that my mail was too boring ;) or it might have gone into the spam folder again. |

9 weeks for me. Two mats. Nice though, good comfortable gaming surface. |

An excellent alternative, in fact I prefer his mats, is The Terrain Guy (www.theterrainguy.com). |

Maybe Eric should sell his products through Columbia Games. They mail stuff out really quickly and are in his neck of the woods I thought. |

Wait a minute? Patience is a virtue? I waited NINE months for my product. Hotz purposely ignored my emails and my posts here, and didn't so much as apologize for the delay. They only showed up -after- I threatened to take legal action. No product is worth that. None. Sorry, but I think it's the responsibility of gamers who've had this experience to discuss it publicly; that's what Bill provided this Consumer Affairs board for – honest experiences. If we continue to allow people like this individual to take advantage of our hobby, we've made absolutely no progress, particularly with arguments like, "Well, it was worth the wait, patience is a virtue." I call shenanigans on that, friend. US and British postal law both have maximum time requirements from the time your money is TAKEN to the time the product MUST be delivered. That's it. Plain and simple. Look into your local situation, and if Hotz hasn't delivered, then take appropriate action. I don't enjoy doing this. But I didn't enjoy being taken for 300+ dollars and NINE MONTHS either, and I don't want others to share this same experience. -A. |
