Hello everyone,

I'm looking for figures that mix well with the plastic 1/72 boxs available. Specifically, I own the Italeri American Infantry which is a reissue of Esci set 202. According to PSR, the figs are around 24mm high, and I am looking for more riflemen to flesh out my units. I don't really care where the figures are from, but would probably prefer U.S. sellers over U.K.

SHQ are probably your best pick; plenty of 20mm firms out there, but SHQ have quite a slender realistic build which mixes far better with plastic figures than most ranges.

I have loads of RSM figures, from the Dayton Painting Consortium

also, New Line Designs, although I am not as familiar with them:

If interested in slim, simple figures the Scruby 25mm should match up fairly well – WWII has few poses, so not much choice, but great for conversions.

Try out the US infantry from Elhiem (available from Syr Hobbs in the US):

Also check out TQD for airborne troops:

or

You could go with plastic – Valliant Miniatures are 1:72 hard plastic, take paint well and are stupendously cheap – £9.00 GBP for 68

But these are huge compared to 1/72 soft plastic figures.

Yep – definitely not a good mix with the Esci / Italeri set.

Valiant look nice until you put them next to pretty much anything else and then you realise just how huge they are.

PilGrim09 Jul 2009 5:31 a.m. PST

True – but they ARE 1:72 scale

and £9.00 GBP for 68

as you can see, I have a value for money addiction at the moment, and at 14p a figure…….

Fair enough, but the original poster was pretty clear that he has the Esci figures and was looking for a good match – Valiant certainly aren't that. Valiant do seem very good value and fair play if you like them, but they're not a good recommendation given the question that was actually asked….

"but they ARE 1:72 scale"

LOL! In the designers dreams. I suppose they are a similar '1/72nd' scale to the Ready to Roll stuff they are meant to go with, also a tad on the large size.

My ESCI/Italieri/Airfix/Revell plastics are fleshed out with a mix of SHQ, FAA, Platoon 20 and some unidentified figures I found in my bits box.

My Valiants languish unloved in a box in the attic. I even painted a load of the little Bleeped texts to see if I could bear the difference in size. But I couldn't.

Hang on Dom, you can't be calling for thread integrity on TMP!

I'm sure somewhere there is a disclaimer that reads "before starting a thread you should be aware that members are an awkward bunch of curmudgeons who will spend more time arguing about whether 15mm is a size or a scale rather than answering your question"

Dragging off-topic is almost de rigeur, but your post *looked* like an answer to the question, which isn't sporting – if the o.p. had read your post at the wrong time he could easily have ended up with a box of (for him) unuseable figures off of the back of it, which crosses a line….

Anyway, who do you think will win the first test?

Martin Rapier10 Jul 2009 3:49 a.m. PST

"bunch of curmudgeons who will spend more time arguing about whether 15mm is a size or a scale"

I think we all know the answer to that one.

PilGrim10 Jul 2009 5:07 a.m. PST

they will

as usual

Unless of course any of our members with experience in the gambling industry have information otherwise……..

Mumbling through my humble pie, theyre not 1:72, or at least the Rifles aren't – I just did the maths
