Westend Games put out the solo boardgame "RAF" about 20 years ago.
Does anyone know if it was made into a PC game, as it would have been ideal?

Don't know, but Battle Of Britain II is quite excellent. You not only fly the battles, but can direct intercepts from the RAF side, or plan the attacks from the Luft side. It has been supported through a online community that has made it much prettier, as well as fixing a lot of bugs.

For a really old game

Search for Achtung Spitfire….

Fun and addictive

ubique1: No, RAF was never made into a computer game. By the way, a new edition of RAF was just released by Decision Games. This one is in effect three games: solitaire British, solitaire German, and two-player.

I second the thumbs-up for Achtung Spitfire, though it's at the dogfight level. (The player controls about a squadron of aircraft in a scenario.)

You can always play on the PC using Vassal – there is a module for this

I'm going to try BOB 2, and the Vassal system,

Thanks to all.

Hey Guys -

How about two of my old IBM favorites from Talonsoft "Battle of Britain" and "12 0'clock High – Bombing the Reich"? Strategic planning all the way….

Bet you can still find them on the web – maybe Amazon?

Never tried Vassal – any good? Is it like Aide De Camp II?

Vassal's basically a freeware analogue to ADC II -- in fact you can convert existing ADC II modules to Vassal. Vassal's available for multiple platforms -- Windows, Mac, Linux, etc. There is also Cyberboard -- which I believe is Windows only.

On the PC front Matrix Games are apparently not far off releasing Gary Grigsby's 'Eagle Day to Bombing The Reich'.
