Okay, realllllllly off the wall I know but…

I am thinking I would likwe some specific civilain figures for 19th Century Supers games.

Ideally, 1800-1840 Californio figures. Not a lot, just some aristocracy to defend/oppose. Suggestions?

I think the Old Glory Peons/campesinos figures (MAW and Pancho Villa era) and camp followers plus some Dixon (?) peons will work for New Mexico which is my primary arena.

Gracias,

Glenn

Posted to the 18th Century because I don't know how fast fashion might have changed circa 1800 in California.

Old Glory has a bunch. Check their Warpaint line for settlers, Indian villagers. West Wind has London Civilians, which work for western games as well.

Your right about your peons as well.

HI Glenn,

I have the Vaqueros and intend to do some civilians as well.

Warbeads06 Jul 2009 3:11 a.m. PST

Yes, I have your Zorro, Presidials, and Vaqueros are on my list and I should be buying some soon (obviously, not as soon as I had hoped.)

Other then Reviresco and they are old school 1/72nd, (i.e., 25mm, in pewter,) mostly military figures for Olde California) you are the only source I have found for distinctly "Californio" looking figures.

While the Anthony Hopkins/Antonio Banderas movie (Mask of Zorro) was a brillant deviation from both California history (as I learned in public school in Los Angeles) and the previous Zorro incarnations it has stoked my desire to add California to New Mexico for my Olde West gaming. I have peons but I need Aristocracy (your Commandante is brillant and Sergeant Garcia – oh my) and, as always, wink more money to buy figures!

Gracias,

Glenn

I'll look again since I don't remember distinctly Californio figures in that line but I certainly might have missed them.

Glenn

These appear to be the ones with the most potential (and some are clearly more Plains Wars oriented.) I will continue to search while saving money to buy Malamute's figures to give me PCs to aid/oppose Zorro.

Gracias,

Glenn

Vacation bound relatively soon…

Mexico & especially California were still very influenced by Spanish colonisation. You might look to some late Napoleonic penninsilar civilians or some Carlist war lines too. Many had come to California & New Mexico to escape political persicusions in Spain. They would have little differences from their European counter parts.
