Simple question here. Can anyone confirm (or otherwise) that IABSM are compatible with 25mm figures? I'm keen to get a copy but I'm not sure if they are designed specifically for 15mm figures.

Thanks guys.

The rules work for any scale, as long as both sides are based the same. I have played them in 10, 15, 20 and 25 mm. They are a great set of rules and I strongly recommend them. Check out the Yahoo group:

I would even argue that both sides don't have to based the same. My infantry figures are 2 per 20x25mm base, with Big Men on 1" washers. My buddy's figures are based for FOW, and he uses their "command teams" as his Big Men. We use markers to keep track of kills and wounds, and the two different basing systems work just fine together. And yes they are a GREAT set of rules; undoubtably my favorite for this period/scale.

You would be better with Troops, Weapons & Tactics at 25mm than IABSM.

IABSM is not designed for a specific scale, and I'm sure it would work in 25mm, but IABSM is company-level and TW&T is platoon-level. The basic rule mechanics are very similar, but the focus is slightly different.

The rules aren't scale specific – I game in 28mm with them quite comfortably.

raymondh, I would encourage you to join the group, as you will have loads of questions. In addition, you will then have access to loads of IABSM aids, accessories etc in the "files" section, as well as having virtually instantaneous access to the local IABSM (and yes, etc…)intelligentsia (even if they don't have it together enough to clip their posts!…Sorry, had to say that….TFL will know why!)

What they all said.
As Ermintrude said, for a game of IABSM you need far more minis than you need for TW&T as in IABSM each side commands a company of more, in TW&T each side commands a platoon. IF, however, you're lucky enough to have both the space and the minis to run company size actions in 25mm, do so. And please, please take pictures so that us less fortunates can at least look and dream.

Thanks guys. I've had a look on the web and I might try TW&T first. I have heaps of 25mm stuff but not enough to do a company sized action.

Thanks for the advice

Well, you don't have to do it at 1:1. The manouvre units are sections so you could just use a couple of 28mm figs and keep a strength roster or something.
