Are the minis that come in the starter sets random, or are all the sets the same? |

I think it depends on the set. The DA sets were Random, I think the big box set was 2 Fixed and the rest random. |

DA sets were 1 random mech, 2 random vehicles and 5 random infantry. No rares. The AOD starter had 2 fixed mechs, 2 fixed vehicles and 6 fixed infantry, plus fixed pilot, equipment and condition cards, split between two mercenary groups. |

sure, I've got a 48-can soft cooler bag stuffed with mechclix from 1st gen to 2nd to last release, I think(series, not amount). I could easily part with the whole lot of it, cheap or in trade. |
