Anyone else pick this up? In a fit of frenzy I managed to convince myself that $25 USD was a reasonable price for a magazine (shipping charge is atrocious to the States) I have enjoyed the articles, enlightening and scholarly (from my point of view) Anyone else have discussion for this expensive gem? The special issue is terrific – lots of background on the generals, the campaigns of that era, arms and armor, archaeology, and even tips on which museums to visit. From a wargaming view, my only wish is that they had gone further in discussing the battles and how to resolve them on the tabletop – but that's probably a bit off-topic for a history magazine. Maybe Slingshot and Ancient Warfare should team up, with Slingshot running companion articles for wargamers? |

I've wanted to run a battle of the Varian disaster. But I am not sure which system I would use. A set piece battle itself could only really have one outcome. The Romans could play for taking the most barbarians to hell with them but otherwise not much fun for the Romans. Maybe this should be a topic in the main ancients discussion forum? |

The Roman victory should be saving the eagles. It is a great mag on the battle. Mike Adams |

"Maybe Slingshot and Ancient Warfare should team up, with Slingshot running companion articles for wargamers?" I'd be happy to sync articles up with Ancient Warfare, but that assumes I have the articles in the first place. Mark |
