I have been surprised that I can't find a miniature for my favorite D&D character that I have been using since 2nd edition. A young brash sword fighter (bastard sword.) Long thick, chain mail or scale, usually striking a heroic pose. I always likened him to Ken from Street Fighter series of video games meets Madmartigen from Willow. Young, cocky and a little dumb… At one point I used a Felix Jaeger mini for him, but that has long since disappeared. Any suggestions would be great and I am not afraid to do conversions.

You are right, there are very few simple minis like that. Chainmail wearing heroes are hard to find. Everyone wants plate, and scale muscle bound guys.

Ulfgar of Auldheim or Ragnar of Utherby (Njornan Hero) by Red Box should do the trick (both in scale mail)

I'm going to say that Dark Sword's Jon Snow figure is what you want. Young-looking guy, chain mail, what could easily be a bastard sword drawn.

If your character also uses a bow, this guy might work too:

This is so interesting. My feeling is that manufacturers don't hear that many gamers want non-super-human miniatures. I have no idea why this is… I actually toyed with the idea of starting a miniatures company devoted to filling the need of villagers, merchants, peasents, and your low level adventurers. Remember the D&D Ral Partha three stage miniatures??? I used to love having my miniature grow and progress with my PC!

Jon Snow is awesome, but big (40mm). Depending on what everyone else is using you may tower. That may be just fine.

This Darkword guy, by contrast, is a little on the small side for my taste, but cool, and much better for 28mm:

If this guy is what you want, he would be VERY easy to convert. link

I'll try to come up with some other ideas.

Sorry, this is the link I forgot to insert above along with some other ideas:

(another big guy) link

If you are willing to round-over the ears with a file and green-stuff: link

If you are willing to switch the sword and accept a little plate armor with scale:

Also, that guy comes with an un-helmeted head as well.

Thanks Norscaman I think that I am going to run with link do a head and weapon swap and I will have my guy. Thanks for everyone for the suggestions!
