Hi all here are some pics of my upcoming 15mm Belisarian Byzantine figs to supplement what's available in my 15mm LIR line. These are good for later Patrician as well. Archers: picture Bukelarii (guards) picture General (on the white-faced bay!) picture Enjoy! |

they look wonderful, curious how much time did you spend painting each one? to paint to that level I know that it takes me several hours per figure (which is why my FOG Lancastrians are not superb) I can't wait to see more. |

dragons, I did not paint these, Chris Yaro did. I'm not a terrible painter, and in fact could probably paint these models sufficiently for display. Ironically, the primary reason I use pro painters is because of the photography! I am a horrible photographer. That said naturally it is great to get that extra something when displaying your models as painted by a Steve Dean, Carl Robson, Richard Lowles, or Chris Yaro. I have never timed myself when painting, but I do know it's a long, gradual process. Well, you get out of life what you put into it! |

What figures would you suggest for Later Italian Ostrogoth opponents? |

I left the Ancient period to immerse myself in the 18th century. In fact, I am in the process of selling the majority of my 80+ DBA armies. However, these beautiful sculptings are soooo tempting, I think I shall hold on to at least, my Sassanids and Goths. Currently, I am looking at your Mysti Island series as possible inhabitants for my Archipelago Amer-igo. Would S.E. Asian pirates be in the offing? Cheers, Robert 18thcenturysojourn.blogspot.com |

Very nice. I gave up on Belsarius' army when I realized most were wearing PJs instead of skirts! |

Some other "names" of the time would be good also. Narses, Gelimer,Totila, even a nice court set of Justinian would be nice. And if you are going to grant all my wishes then some 15mm Conanesque/pulp Barbarians(foot and mounted)would top the lot. |

Well, he's really just a Byzantine general. There will be German generals too for Gelimer and Totila and so on. |

A very interesting period. Nicely painted figures. Hope they bring you lots of luck on the gaming tables. |

It's also a great period for army variety. You have maneuver cavalry (byzantines), horse archers (hun remnants, bulgars, chionites), massed archery cavalry (sassanids), charging cavalry (ostrogoths, vandals), massed foot warbands (Franks, etc) and even skirmishing infantry (Moors which I probably won't be making, Slavs).. So all sorts of tactical systems in contact with each other. atb khurasanminiatures.tripod.com |
