What's changed from 2 years ago except the "move" next year. Seems are brothers from over the pond liked the Host. |

It was an interesting outside perspective. |

I doubt a magazine is going to cover the state of bathroom service, accomodation or food quality. They're going to focus on the games and the dealers. |

Good article, but I can't believe they thought the Host was a luxury hotel. |

Luxury is relative to where you find yourself versus where you've been before. |

Goldwyrm, Exactly. I had zero problems with the Host. Oh well

While I consider it "camping." Horses for courses. |

Read the last page of the article, they extensively wrote about the food and the pig roast. They even called it inexpensive Ok! they probably didn't go to the 'loo next to Lampeter. |

not to mention parking
especially HANDICAP parking and Handicap Accessibility to various venues
OR the 'restrooms'
among other things

I've noticed that on the hotel review sites, with a few exceptions (for whom the best is not good enough) British travellers seem to be far less critical than Americans or Canadians. |

"not to mention parking" You mean that it is free as to what you will have to pay down at BCC for each day of the convention? |

I've never stayed overnight – I'm fortunate that Lancaster is close enough for a day trip. As far as expense goes, it is purely subjective. Compared to NJ, Lancaster is a bargain. That's one of the reasons why the move to Baltimore is a deal-breaker for me. I love the inner harbor, but it's not a day trip anymore, and it will be substantially more expensive. Oh well. GregS |

That's one of the reasons why the move to Baltimore is a deal-breaker for me.I love the inner harbor, but it's not a day trip anymore, and it will be substantially more expensive. This was covered on another thread. Baltimore has many hotel bargains making their prices comparable to Lancaster. And, I live in NJ. I do not find Lancaster to be any real bargain either. All three places have slop houses for food, dirt bag motels, etc. |

I was unaware of that, John. And I agree with your comment on some of the food in Lancaster – don't eat Thai food there! The strange smell of the place should have tipped us off! As I said in my initial posting, those who actually stay overnight probably have a much better insight as to the cost/value equation. For me, just being a day-tripper, I find it to be reasonable. However, I can fully understand those who disagree. GregS |
