I have recently aquired a bunch of Minifigs Russians for 1812, and I need a few units to fill out the army. Minifigs does not list an 1812 russian grenadier figure, Battle Honours does. Most people on these boards like the Battle Honours figures and they indicate that they are broadly compatible with Minifigs and pretty close to actually being 15mm figures, which is all good, and I was prepared to order the Battle Honours figs. But now a friend says that he read somewhere that the Battle Honours molds are getting old and that it is having an impact on figure quality, the last thing I want to do is scrape and clean alot of figures. Can anyone let me know what they think of the quality of the current Battle Honours figures is, compared to a few years ago? Thanks. |

In 1812 wasn't the only differnce in the color/trim of the uniform? |

No actually the earlier Russian Grenadiers had a much thicker or wider plume, in 1812 it was noticibly thinner. I personally would not be too concerned at this scale, but the figures I bought are 2nd gen Minifigs and they have the thinner plume. |

"Can anyone let me know what they think of the quality of the current Battle Honours figures is, compared to a few years ago?" In the last quarter of 2008, I picked up a fairly wide selection of 15mm Napoleonic Austrians (infantry and cavalry), Prussians (infantry and cavalry), and (for South America) French (artillery). No complaints. They look as good or better than they did ten years or so ago. I had also picked up quite a few BH ACW in late 2007/early 2008. Again, no problems. Just as good as when Tony Barton first released them--and I have some of those, too. If you have any concerns, just check with Jay or one of the Steves. And if there *are* any problems, they do not hesitate to correct them. Allen |

link If you follow the link, you can see the contents of Minifigs pack 15013022 "Russian infantry march/attack in Kiwer shako, 1812." The figures all come with the grenadier plume, which can be trimmed off for line regiments. So you can easily go with Minifigs and keep consistency with the rest of your army. The Battle Honors figures I've bought recently look fine to me. I can't see any degrading of the molds. |

Good commentary on the virtues of Minifigs, Scott! Nice work. Allen |

Hate to go against the grain here, but the French Battle Honors I purchased late in 2008 were noticeable thinner than the figures I was matching them to from 10+ years ago. These were mostly the figs in greatcoats and campaign dress, so maybe these molds get redone less often. Having said that, they were still good figures although thin in places. Russ |

Most of my russians are BH. It's always a big surprise to have to clean flash off of a figure. Their russians are very nice. |

It just depends. About four years ago I bought some BH French and they were very poor but more recently a friend purchased Russians and they were good. |

My BH Russian 1812 infantry in full dress look almost as nice as my ABFigures of the same type. I bought these about a year ago and they were in good shape. |

LtJBsz: Ya got me! Yes, our 1812 Russian in Kiwiers have the tall plumes! (ALL such , I guess, come as GRENADIERS). If you want musketeers or Jagers, it's how you pint them and you will have to cut off the plumes, just above the "ball".) "Cuts" down on the number of SKU's a store would have to stock
.(Well, THAT was my intention
