Ok, my very first 6mm figs
Baccus 7YW 6mm.
I bought them when I was thiking of dropping my 15mm Minden project and do it in 6mm.
I'm still thinking of it, but I decided to do Guilford court house in 6mm instead, then later also a napoleoinc 6mm thing to.

But I had allready orderd a few blisters.
So I got them today and since I havn't gotten my AWI or Napoleoinc figs and I was realy curious on what it was like to paint 6mm, and I thought it would be a good ide to practice.

Anyway here they are.

Basicly the same way I paint my 15mm, I didn't go for less detail, but thats becasue my 15mm are allready so basic.
I took me about 1 hour to paint the 20 figs. It would have taken a shoter time if I had changed the painting order, I did the skin before the hat, which meant I used more time on the hat then I need, if I had used a bigger brush on the hat not having to wory hiting the skin I would have saved 10-15 minutes

A few years back, Peter at Baccus made a great offer – he'd send you a free army in exchange for you painting and doing a write up on the experience. Here is mine:

So did you end up getting more 6mm?

Gotta love the little guys. And they are so quick and easy to paint. Here are a few of mine:

Well, I am Baccus' new dealer in the US and I'm working on Leipzig in 6mm – but I'm having it painted for my by Phil at Firezone Studios. Then I have ACW in 6mm as well, not to mention my growing WW2 Micro Armor collection…

So yeah, I did get a little more 6mm….

They look good, hope you complete the project. I have enjoyed Baccus 6mm myself, but have strayed back into 15mm for the time being.

I believe that in 6mm it's the unit's appearance you should worry about. Not the individual figure.

I'm a recent Baccus convert. I own a lot of 6mm. But Scale creep having Baccus in the USA allowed me to see them up close and personal. Great figs! I will be buying many!

Thanks,

John

The only problem with Baccus figures is that once started they are addictive. Here's a few(thousand)of mine to prove it

I also have pretty much gone over to Baccus – here is a shot of some of my Austrians

I have Austrians and use the AoE rules, so given those 12 to 15 stand brigades, 6mm is pretty much the way for me

What will be REALY cool is that I'm as I said in the blog used to small scale tactical battles.
So you only have 1-3 batteries pr. side ususaly you get 1 model gun for every two that was there so a 4 gun battery is just 2 guns, so verry little arty and often only effective when using canister.

But for my AWI battle, even tho I use 1:4 scale, I will use 1:1 scale on the guns so I get 10 model guns on the table even for such a small battle

AND for my big napoleonic battle, I'll use 1 gun for each battery, while that dosn't sound like much, there was 46 batteries in the battle, so I actualy get to put 46 guns on the table. Which is a big step up from 5-10.
Looking forward to makeing grand batteries.

Yes, indeed, the Grand Batteries are really Grand

I love 6mm--esp Baccus and would have probably done AWI in it but for the fact one chap at our club had it in 25mm already--It does make battles actually look like battles!!
I also find painting easier than 25mm…
