The annual reenactment of the Fort Niagara siege occurs this coming weekend, Friday through Sunday. It will be different since this is a 250th commemoration. I've seen the numbers registered and activities planned within AND far outside the fort in the park. This time the event will be a WHOPPER; the largest ever or ever will be F&I event. Votre serviteur, Bill --- If you are within a half day's drive, I urge you to go. |

I grew up a short distance from the fort, a place dear to my heart. |

I used to go every year with the 60th out of Ft. Pitt. I haven't been in about 12 years since I moved away. Great times. Very beautiful. Lots of good memories. Go if you can. |

I visited about twenty years ago and still remember how loud the big gun was. |

I'll be there! I live in Lewiston, abt 10 mins away. I take my boy every year, and he has a blast. |

I took that fort numerous times, and accepted the surrender three times. My elbow ended up in TIME magazine (article on re-enacting) as I was arranging my army in two rows to allow the surrendering forces to march out of the Ravelin. I also oranized the British forces in a then new arrangement they more or less still use to this day. Been there, done that, but I hope you had a great time. :-) |

Have there been any photos posted of the event. I'm curious to see how many reenactors showed up. |

Got some mixed accounts from friends who attended. The real question is how many muskets on the field, and F&I draws a disproportionate amount of families, so for instance 1800 could translate to only 600 men, or less. |

Yeah it's like that in 1812 events. The camps can be large but you're dealing with perhaps 60 muskets a side if you're lucky. |

I think the event did alright, I am just not sure, based on the photo, where they put everyone. It is not the best "battle" site to host what was the pinnacle of the 250th, but in their defense, Quebec raised the white flag (pun intended there). ;-) |
