Ok this is a quick review of Osprey new Armies of the Napoleonic Wars.

The book is beautifully illustrated, with a total of about 170 color plates from Osprey. On top of all that, there also well over a hundred other illustrations from numerous other sources.

Almost ever pages have some sort of maps, painting, plates, photo, stretch, and etc. The book is a compilation of past Men-at-Arm, Warriors, Campaign, and Elite from the past. I'm not sure if contained ever single material from those books, but I'm sure that most of it is there in this book.

Is quite a heavy volume. I haven't read all the way through it yet, but so far so good. I will highly recommended this book for anyone, especially for beginner into this fascinated period.

I'm assuming it also includes the errors in the Men at Arms, Campaigns and Elites from the past too. Valuable, but approach with caution.

The book is beautiful and beautifully illustrated. It also is heavy. I am looking forward to reading it. I have all the Austrian Napoleonic Osprey books, so I got it for the other armies, especially the French.

It's on my summer shopping list along with Foundry's "Napoleon".

It's on my summer shopping list along with Foundry's "Napoleon".

I'd save my money on that TBH

Damn you. If only I'd have thought of that, I'd still have 25 quid to buy the Haynes Strat manual and more beer

I have already got some copies for my store.

I also put a copy in my personal library. It is a book like this that motivates me to get back into an era that I have not worked in for a while.

Although it's not perfect, it is a good overview for the wargamer. Of course, if your a serious Napoleonics afficiado it will be too generic for your tastes. But for the beginning Napoleonics gamer, it's just fine.

I'm just starting in Napoleonics and have it on order. Connard Sage, whats the problem with the Osprey Napoleonic books?

Not all of them are as accurate as you would like.

Depends a lot on the author, or the illustrator, or sometimes the printer…

Post a question on here along the lines of "known mistakes in Osprey Napoleonic series?" Then sit back and enjoy the ride:)

Osprey should release a new volume or two on the subject. "Errata of the Napoleonic Wars" should sell well!

Have my copy now. Yes it looks very nice but there is a real lack of good reference pictures of post 1800 standard French and English infantry. Still have to buy other books now as painting guides for basic troop types…
