Well I thought I would take the risk and reveal what I have done with my Confederate Army so far since starting work on it just over a month ago. So bear in mind this is a project I have undertook with virtually no idea of the period!

I think Im about two-thirds of the way through it, but I keep buying more bits, which aint helping!

I wont make any claims to it being historically accurate in the detail, as I am new to ACW as it has always been the one period I swore I would never bother with! Now I find the more I paint and read the more interesting I find it and my general interest in the period has grown immensly.

Have to admit, Im getting pretty fond of this army and it aint even seen any action yet!

My mate is painting the Union troops (ACW is his thing, so I volunteered to do the Rebs as payback for all the weird projects I have forced on him) and I have tried to get a 'generic' Confederate look to my army… I warn you now, it may be a bit more of a 'Hollywood' Confederate Army!

So all that aside, I must say Im pleased with what I have done so far and the look of the army. There are a few things I would change now I am more familiar with the period, but on the whole Im pretty pleased with it and I hope it will look like a Confederate Army once its on the table! It is also the first full size 28mm Historical Army I have ever painted… Generally I just do skirmish stuff in that scale (ok some of those skirmish projects have over 100 figures in them but you know what I mean!).

Anywho, bear all that in mind when you look at the pics, and I hope it dont offend the ACW experts too much! Be gentle with me… ;-)

My last infantry unit will be painted as Clinch's Rifles in their nice 1861 green outfit… I know, rather pointless, but it will look pretty!

They look good. Have fun!

They're looking pretty darn good to me! Reminds me of when I got into 28mm ACW with Brother Against Brother-- I finished over three hundred of the darn things in a couple of months so that a buddy and I could run a game at Cold Wars. I'm only using the models for Warhammer ACW now, which I am helping play test for WHH. It's a fantastic game!

What system are you guys going to be playing, Piers?

Those look great.

Naz,

We will be using Guns at Gettysburg for starters but they are based to allow us to use them for skirmishes (BaB) and also for Warhammer ACW… If its ever released… Im trying to think longterm with the basing!

Now if they need another playtester for WHACW…

Good for you, nice looking army. What rule set are you using, Fire and Fury?

Great work

By the way, do you know the difference between a Yankee and a damn Yankee?

nazrat02 Jul 2009 6:51 a.m. PST

The Yankee went home!

nazrat02 Jul 2009 6:51 a.m. PST

As told to me by a little old lady from Georgia (when I was in Atlanta):

Yankee – that someone from the North

Damn Yankee – that someone from the North who move here to live

And she said it like she was really Bleeped texted off
