Is there a point cost for ships? or a way to determine equal sides for fighting in a pick up game? Thanks for your time. -Dawkins |

I forget how exactly it works but AoD does have canned missions. Similar to Flames of War – there is a general mission structure (attack the convoy, bombard, etc.) and a guideline for generating balanced games. I seem to remember there was a basic points system as well but I can't lay my hands on ym copy of the rule book just now. |

It uses Priority Levels to categorise ships. These levels are rough approximations of the power of a ship. There are 5 levels: War Battle Raid Skirmish Patrol Battleships are generally War level Newer Battlecruisers and Dreadnoughts are Battle Armoured cruisers, pre-dreadnoughts and older battle cruisers are Raid Light cruisers are Skirmish Destroyers are Patrol
Generally each level can be considered to be worth twice the level below. All works quite well. Last night we played a 'Sink the Lutzow' scenario with 5 raid points per side. The Lutzow limping home after Jutland, being chased by the RN before it reaches narrow waters. Shore batteries, Zeppelins, submarines and shallow water. Great fun. Steve P |
