Here are the extra photos from the World Camapign Kickoff Event. For the overall Battle Report check out the "The Living Dams" defense at the Canals of Ptah, under World Campaign 2009, in the Fantasy Battle Report Forum.

This photo is of the EOD's center to right flank. I was going to originally use it in the Battle Report, but instead decided to go with the more epic end of the EOD line photo, since there were no dice or rosters in that one. Great photo for reference of unit location though. 2 of the 3 black clouds of darkness are visible. They are actually blocking the flow of water from the far end. So, the Necromancer is actually sitting in an empty canal. Oh, & don't mind the Crypt Lord Assassin at the far end either, he actually appeared at the center of the battlefield in the rocky outcrop later on.

Ahhh yes, the beginning of the melee between the Abomb & Si-Panek. Mind you by the time these 2 met, the Abomb had already been hexed, attacked by a spectral hand, & slain 2 chariot runners. Once in melee we discovered that the Abomb, of course, had Devourer. Myself & Amenehat secretly hoped to see a 10 rolled & watch as Si-Panek went the way of digestion. Instead we would witness as Si-Panek handled the Abomb like it was a stuffed teddy bear!

Having finally made it past the repeated volley of fire from the Typhon Death Cultists, my Anubi Swords were able to charge this unit of mummy warriors in the flank. Beginning a melee between the 2 units that would last 4 turns! Holy TOUGH AS NAILS Batman! Let's just say these guys almost single handedly held the EOD's left flank.

Loved this photo. Tony's nicely converted Nekharu Slingers. These guys are the inspiration behind a unit of the same I'm currently working on. Plus, the unit of summoned vultures charges into the flank of a unit of, um, well… vultures. Irony!!!

picture

A different perspective on the initiation of provocation. Gotta tell you when I saw Amenehat charge into the Ka 4 Dark Harbinger I said a little prayer for the guy because I didn't think there was any way he'd survive. That eater had already demolished a unit of Asar & half a unit of Nekharu… Then again, nothing like being a Typhon Harbinger & taking Strength of Set as your 2nd power!

Really wanted to get Swiss Toni's Witch, Nusen-sha-sta, into a photo. Super cool conversion using the Nekharu Hero body, Asar Wtich hands, & Torturer head. The conversion was only barely surpassed by SwissToni's absolutely masterful play of the Witch. He was easily the unsung hero of the battle. He hexed the Abomb, slowed it with Spectral Hand, summoned vultures to charge into the Death Cutist missile troops, cast another Spectral Hand to slow a unit of mummy warriors, then cast Quiver of Vipers on neighboring Nakharu Archers who shot at the final black cloud on the battle field. Those magical Vipers are what destroyed the last cloud & allowed water to freely flow once again. All in a day's work!

picture

Those tough as Nails mummy warriors again! By this point they'd been charged by a 3rd unit! Yet, there they stood, a Standard, Musician, & Crypt Lord!

If you haven't yet, check out the Battle Report. The entire event was great fun! The megabattle was actually the 2nd game played by forces of the living. 1st set of battles were a 1 on 1 affair, Atenists vs. Old gods. That's how Swiss Toni gained a 2nd Priest of Aten & Amenehat gained an Assessor, who found a way to lose an arm later in the same battle! Check Amenehat's post in the 2009 Warband Base Camp, in Crocodile Games Forum for visual evidence! Granted Assessors generally fight against & don't join infamous warbands, but they're no dummies. There's a much bigger false god foe in Aegyptus right now!

All in all fun times, fun people, fun games!!! :D
