I'm getting back into 20mm Vietnam gaming and have really gotten the bug to do riverine stuff. I'm considering scratch-building and casting some of my own stuff, but have such a backlog of 15mm vehicles for modern gaming to do that I'd like to pick up what I can if any pretty good models are already available. I'm familiar with the Britannia boats, which look pretty good, and have read about a couple of other manufacturers making a few (and I'm sure that I've missed some), but last night's search on manufacturer sites mostly served to confuse me, as I either couldn't find the products, pics, or couldn't tell if the manufacturers were still in business. Pictures are really important, as I don't want to buy castings with lots of big bubbles or rough detailing. I've found that it takes me more time to clean those up, than to just make them from scratch. I've found some photos on gamer sites, but the only ones that were identified were the Britannia models. Can anyone suggest manufacturers that are currently making them available, or any sites with pics, or any books or sites with plans that support scratch-building? I greatly appreciate any help. Thanks, Brian |

Piers has an excellent collection of Vietnam riverine craft. He has pictures of them posted on our forum ( ambushalleygames/forum )and the Guild ( guildwargamers.com ). I'm not awake enough yet or I'd track down specific links for you. Sorry. |

Yep, those are the ones Piers has! He has an out of production hovercraft, too, but I can't remember who makes it. The models Nancy posted up look GREAT. I really like the cast on bow waves and wakes, too. Based on the ones in Piers collection, you couldn't go wrong ordering those babies. |

As far as I understand it, Britannia is the only manufacturer making Vietnam era Riverine craft in 20mm. All others have ceased production, or never actually got into production. A bummer, really, as it's always nice to have selection. That said, the Britannia boats look really good! (I myself will be doing riverine in 1/600 scale) |

dan cohen models did a substantial range of nam boats in 1/72 – Dan took his range out of production as his job as an LA cop took over
he keeps threatening to rerelease them drop him a letter or email :). SDD also did a large range .. stab , monitor , swift , pbr and others
someone else owns these now , but they are near impossible to get . archer models did the pacv hovercraft , crusader models in the usa owns this one .. again almost impossibe to get . skytrex did a small range , a monitor and a few others .. for some reason these were in production for a very short time
if u see them on ebay get a bank loan :) |
