I know that Goblinoid Games (the people who put out Labyrinth Lord, a retro clone of Original Edition D&D) also do a game called Mutant Future, which is a retro clone of Gamma World, but which also includes a conversion to some D&D style level based rules.

But I'm curious if other games are out on the web which actually use the 0ed rules for space opera style gaming, or any other 0ed clones that have gone in different directions.

Regards

Gamma World was 2nd edition – Metamorphosis Alpha preceded it. I no longer recall the mechanics of it…

Same here, I remember the MA background and artwork more than the rules.

Right, but these are retro clones.

What I am asking about is, since Hasbro/WOTC released 0ed D&D under the OGL, has anybody made any sf games with it?

Heh… anybody else remember "Expedition to the Barrier Peaks"? Fantastic Erol Otis artwork…

Other than Mutant Futures I am unaware of any other Old School sci if game based on the OGL. Of course there are a number of D20 sci fi games.
MA had a similar system to GW, weapon versus armor, mental attack matrix along with radiation matrix. This is one thing missing in Mutant Futures I wish they could have included but I suppose it isn't really covered in the OGL.

I was just gunna say "Expedition to the Barrier Peaks" . Sci-fi in D&D. Does it get any better?

WOTC never released the original D&D under the OGL.
They released 3.x under the OGL, which people has used to extrapolate old D&D compatible stuff.

"Expedition to the Barrier Peaks" – Akkkk!!!

That's the d@mn adventure where that weird ray gun blew up in my Bard's face while he was trying to figure it out!!! Darn near kilt him!!!

Loads of fun. Most of those old school games always were.

David bezio is working on "X-plorers", which uses OD&D as the basis for a simple, retro, OGL science fiction game. A playtest version (PDF) was just released:

Someone else is working on something similar called "Derelict Delvers"
