I just downloaded them and gave them a quick browse. Seem interesting, anyone play them yet? They play quick? How long for a typical game (like the sample)? They were in the Christmas '08 special. Thanks!

We've played them once, as a test for a large game we plan to play in the Summer, and we'll have another test run next week. Our first impression is very good. The rules are easy to learn, after a few turns the game mechanics as well as the (few) tables become familiar. I assume once you´ve played them a few times, they´ll play quite quickly. I can´t tell you how long the sample will take for we´ve only played with a 6-8 units as side.
As with all the TFL rulesets, coordinating and controlling units is the hardest part, you'll easily end up with either a dispersed army or a traffic jam, especially after the first few melees.
There are a few "grey area's", but we'll collect all the questions we have and post them on the TFL Yahoo group to get some answers from the group and the Big Man himself (Richard), he's very good at that.

I've played a few of games and like them very much indeed. Each time I used just five British units (4 foot and one cavalry) plus two guns and about three times as many Mahdists.

First game Brits were wiped out to a man as some idiot forgot to order 'fix bayonets'. Second two games were Brit victories. All games took about 1.5 – 1 3/4 hours. Great fun and strong on period feel. Combat is simple and easy and after three games I've got my head around some tactics for both sides which are historical anyway so big thumbs up. I like the flexibility of what a table top unit can represent eg a company up to a regiment or anywhere in between. Basing etc is flexible. I felt using 28mm a 5' x 6' table was a tad small but 6' x 7' was fine.

Well worth a try IMHO. I won't bother looking elsewhere for rules now I have these.
