I have finally got round to taking some photos and uploading them to my site kerynne.com/games/wss.html of my Pendraken Malburian Red Coats

Nice Fred – like the idea of a white undercoat with a brown wash.

I do something similar on my 25mm figures. I prime white, paint with thinned paint to get the faux highlights & then use the MinWax Dip.

fred, I'm curious, what does the brown wash do if you're painting over the white already? Is it just to give any unpainted white parts some shading?

Thanks

I did the white, then wash, then paint for a few reasons

1) to pre-shade the deeper parts of the figures – I painted the red coats with a pretty thin mix of paint, getting towards a wash.
2) to avoid having any hard to get to areas left a glaring white
3) by pre-shading I hoped to keep my final colours brighter.
