eclipsephase.com Anyone know much about this RPG? Do you think it has potential? I'm pretty curious about it, but I have too many questions to ask at this point, I will have to wait till its released and take a peek at the final core rule book.
It kinda reminds me of a more advanced 'Dead Space' game, one that I did wnat to run with my players in the future, but hadn't found a nice system/setting to use, maybe this could work? Maybe you could shed some light, (if you know much about it) is the game purely set from the jumping from bodies to bodies stand point, or can you run it as a post apocalyptic futuristic game point and the players living on a ship and doing their travels/mysteries like that
The little information they have on their website has got me interested, but its not enough to give me a clear picture, quite deceptive, so I will keep on watching it :P |

I believe it leans towards "hard" sci-fi and possibly horror sci-fi. |

Since this game is now out (more or less) I was curious if any had any new thoughts. I looks intriguing. |

Although I have not read through the rules yet, the PDF is a MAJOR ink cartridge drainer!!! If you want it save yourself some money and buy the book. |

I dunno, character generation seems excessively complicated, and lately I tend towards simpler=better game design (ie, Qin: The Warring States, or even the White Wolf engine if you don't let the dice-adders get out of hand). I might pick it up for the background info, it could be a really cool setting. |

If you've read the "altered carbon" novels by Richard Morgan it fits well with them (and also would allow roleplaying in the "Infinity" game world.) I have tried a similar thing in the past with a cyberpunky-distopian game campaign, but it stalled out as the players couldn't reconcile their bodies changing their skills and abilities. My current Cyberpunk group have read them and play Infinity as well, and might be up for it. I'll give it a try. |

My impression of Eclipse Phase is of an attempt to revive Cyberpunk as a genre by adding current buzzwords ("Singularity") and being more pretentious. Meh. |

Your loss, Farstar, if you hold to that mistaken impression. There's a lot of good stuff in there and some interesting speculative fiction regarding how technology and culture defines what we may view as "human" and even "self". This is the first original sci-fi setting to capture my interest in years. |

Hmm. Then perhaps the people attempting to describe it to me were missing the point. I'm aware of what a Vingean Singularity is supposed to be, and the idea that a game is looking at the society beyond what is labeled as a Singularity is already a bit dubious. |
