I just finished building two boxes full of the new Pegasus Soviet kits in 1/72, and I have to say I am quite pleased. These come with two models per box, and I paid about $12 USD US for them, making them quite a bargain.

The BA-6 Armored Cars went together in about 5 minutes each: they are nicely detailed and look great, but are very simple. One will be painted winter white and the other that lovely dank Soviet green.

The KV-1 (M1942) kits were a bit more complex. In fact, at first I was dismayed at the number of road wheels needing to be glued on to he track assembly, but in truth, that went very quickly. The first model took 30 minutes, and the second, only 15. With a bit more practice, I think I could get it down to 10.

The KVs look great: each comes with two complete turrets, so you can choose which variant you want. Overall, these are delightful gaming models. They are rugged, quick to build, yet have very nice detail, including commanders hatches that can be built open or closed (unlike many of the Armourfast models). The tracks on tanks are MUCH better than Armourfast as well, having realistic sags build right into the one piece track assembly, instead of the highly stylized and unrealistic straight tracks on Armourfast.

If you are into the Great Patriotic War, I highly recommend these! There is also a BT-7, several KV variants, and a T-34/85, but oddly, no early model T-34 to go with all the other early war armor. Hopefully those are coming soon…

Try their IS-2. Great model too.

I hadn't even heard that they had done a BA-6, interesting to hear that – not really something that I would expect to hear getting done as a quick-build kit.

One of the few companies with SU-152's.

Wish someone would do this for 1/100 (i.e 15mm) scale…

Damon.

If you were reading my blog you would have known about them months ago. You can also see photos of their new figures too.

They are very nice, but simple models.

Hi

Italieri and HAT industries are fielding 2 vehicle kits as well. For some reason, HAT produced several versions of the Sherman as some of their first kits.

The HAT kits are easier to put together, but have less detail than the Italieri or Pegasus kits.

So what is going on with Pegasus and their 1/72 scale range of plastic figs? I thought that the German Paras, Russian Mortars (Summer & Winter), and French Inf (WW1 & 2) were all done…so where are they???????????????????????????????????????

My 7 year old son helped me build 5 boxes of the B-7's and 2 boxes of the BA-6's. The KV-1's and KV-2's were too hard for him. I used glue with those models.
