THREE DAYS to refight a battle that in real life only took ONE day to fight? And it wasn't even the whole battle just one part of it! Well each to their own, but I'll leave the head-banging stuff to others. |

Setup for the game was on Friday, during and after the club meeting. Saturday's scenario was "The Skirmish in the Woods" a smaller game to help the players familiarize themselves with the JRIII rules. Brutal fighting in the East Woods resulted in a Confederate minor victory. Sunday was the main event – "The West Woods massacre" which for some reason was fought mainly in the East Woods, only on a bigger scale than the previous game. The cornfield was left nearly untouched and the Iron Brigade was detached to hold the Union flank. Confederate cavalry tried a flanking march only to redo Balaclava in a charge into the Union artillery. Slowly the East Woods were turning into a sea of blue, while the Confederates poured in every reinforcement they could find. |
