I have just finished painting some SYW artillery to go with my ReichsArmme infantry regiments and append a photo link for anyone who might be interested. These are intended as battalion guns. The next phase will be cavalry before returning to the infantry and additional artillery. Photo link IR1 |

Splendid! The variety of uniforms is very attractive. The bases and the trees nearby look good too. Definitely worth all the effort – as I'm sure the cavalry will be, too. I look forward to seeing the next pictures! David nba-sywtemplates.blogspot.com |

Thank you for sharing. Very nicely done. Would like to see more close up photos. |

Bigdennis I will try and get some better closeups. All the ones I took were rather blurred. I need to retrain myself every time I take snaps. I have had some goods ones in the past but the last few batches have been awful. IR1 |

Very Nice! What colour are the Frankische Kries guns ? |

Thanks Frankss In the absence of any reliable information I have used a dark/brick red to represent the ox blood dye varnish that was used as a wood presevative at that time. This came to light on a previous thread. TMP link IR1 |

Hi John, I see near the end of P&H Reichsarmee there's a section on "Field gun colours from Hermann in "Zinnfigur"" which mentions "Franconia – Red covered munition carriers as in Bavaria". If that's correct, then does it follow that the guns themselves were "bluey-grey" like the Bavarian guns, as listed earlier in that section? This table: link certainly suggests, though, that after 1760 the Bavarians had red woodwork with black painted metal on their guns so, if the Franconians followed suit, your colouring would be right anyway for Franconian artillery from 1760 onwards! :-) David nba-sywtemplates.blogspot.com |

Hi David I thought the link between the Franconian and Bavarian munitions carriers was a bit tenuous. Too many question marks for my liking!!. Also I did not want yet more light blue gun carriage. I already have the Bavarian Kreis regiments and the Bavarian Aux. Corps (Austrian Army) with light blue carriages. The suggestion of ox blood varnish appealed to me so I went with that little realising I might be right by mistake. Many thanks for the other link. So Hesse Darm = mid blue, Swabian = yellow (ProjectSYW), Wurttemburg = yellow, Wurzburg = red. Thanks again John (IR1) |

Hi John, Yes, I absolutely agree that so much of this is tenuous (no sources given for the weblink I mentioned, for instance); but just thought I'd throw another few items into the pot! ;-) I'm sure no-one can criticise whatever you decide to do; as with so much of the Reichsarmee material (and materiel) we simply don't know much for certain. Oh for a time machine! :-) David nba-sywtemplates.blogspot.com |

Does anyone have information on the Swabian Circle artillery uniforms and gun colors? |

Carne68 It appears that the Swabian artillery uniform was not unlike the Frankish artillery. Dark blue coats, red lapels, cuffs and turnbacks, red vest and breeches. Source link This same source gives the cannons as yellow IR1 |

Sorry, I didn't mean to have the thread hijacked. Just with the 6mm size, It looked like red boxes on the gun carriage, but I couldn't really make out the carriage colour. It still is very nice, and you don't see so much Reichsarmee artillery in one spot, in fact my first time. Thanks for sharing. |
