Okay I feel a bit guilty, I've joined some 63 groups over the years. The vast majority of which I joined only to access rules or files. I only participate in a very few of them. But I hesitant to leave the groups just in case my 'project' of the month leads me back to these topics. |

Scores. A few of them I get email digests for and contribute to, most I just visit from time to time. I get the impression that the majority are dying out, groups which used to be really, really active just doing a few posts a day. One or two active groups still, but just the same half dozen people posting on each. |

55 I only get mail from 5, though. the rest are "read on da 'Net", but I hardly ever do so. |

I have 2 or 3 but I rarely go to them anymore. I just don't like the format. I also will never goto anyones posted yahoo group if I have to join to see pics when people post links here. |

Moderator of 2 and member of 10. Like everyone else, most I don't get email from or just the digest form. Only for the 2 that I am moderator of am I signed up for daily email. |

25, though a few I only occasionally lurk on. I do unsubscribe to the ones I really won't be back to. And sometimes I re-up when my interest in that subject returns. My goal is to have all my groups visible from the "compact" view. :) |

0 I prefer to read blogs Forums seem to be the same old views trotted out by the same old people – but with new names |

Active? Probably 4 with one I never read the digest from unless I see something promising in the first few subject lines. I prefer RSS feeds now which I aggregate. I have 2 dozen blogs I like to follow. The problem with mailing lists are occasionally flame wars erupt which are immature and pointless. If you are on dozens of lists then odds are there is some stupid screed in your inbox. I've found it better to limit the number of lists I read to ones that are really interesting and or pertinent and get my commentary from other sources. |

I do what lugal hdan does. I try to cull the ones I've lost interest in before joining any new ones, and read them via website only. No e-mails, ever. |

197 so far. I get digests from about 15, I have too many areas I like to keep up with, I keep what I'm into at the present active. I used to drop out when my interest waned, but it was hard to find them again. So when I find something I'm into I'll join and either read or set to web only. |
