I have just finished the first stage of my 6mm ReichsArmee build. Phase two will be grenadiers and artillery, followed by cavalry. I will then return to the infantry to finish.

I have posted a few photos if anyone is interested.
I would also like to acknowledge the help I have received from the forum to date and in perticular David at "Not By Appointment" who has supplied excellent coloured templates

Stunning work, IR1, I particularly like photo No 7, marked 'Prussens Gloire', with line upon line of the little so and sos – simply excellent!

Tell me, figures by Baccus, of course, but what about the flags? Also what is the base size/how many figures per base – I think you've got the look just right – top stuff,

Cheers, SteelonSand.

Thanks for your comments

SteelonSand – Yes, figures by Baccus and flags also, except the ReichsArmee flags which are mainly from the Warflags site. I inkjet print them full size (i.e for 28mm) and then reduce them to 6mm scale on a laser printer.

Base sizes are for Polemos rules 60x30mm for 24 infantry in two lines representing a battalion. 30x30 for artillery (i gun/4 crew), 60x30 for cavalry in 9 figure line (3 squadrons). Skirmish infantry and cavalry on 60x60mm bases at 12 infantry or 9 cavalry per base.

Hope this helps

Hi David,

Your templates have been a great help. I am now working on the artillery and have printed your templates as guides.
I couldn't however resist the temptation of also starting the single battalion regiments of Elverfeldt, Nagel and Mengersen + their grenadiers. I must then bite the bullit and paint some cavalry. Horses have always been my stumbling block regardless of scale. The results I get are usually OK but getting started on them takes great willpower.

I have managed to find a number of reference for gun carriage colours. The TMP members have also provided some advice. Anything I do not know will be painted as an Ox blood red varnish.

I will post the results when finished

Hi John,

Very glad to help. It's an excellent project, doing so much of the Reichsarmee, for those of us who enjoy it a good deal; in fact, you've almost got me to the point of thinking I should dig out my long-neglected 6mm figures and try to start painting them! (But I am a truly monumentally awful figure painter, as I can never settle to one method and continually fiddle with new/different techniques, ultimately ending with an almighty mess as a result.)

There is something splendid about cavalry in any scale, so perhaps that thought will help you get motivated! :-)

I plan to do some more Reichsarmee cavalry templates soon; been too busy the past few days and for a few days more. The Franconian Ansbach Dragoons next, perhaps, with a coloured template for the Württemberg Dragoons too. Then some Bavarians, probably…

Anyway, I look forward to seeing your next units, especially the artillery and cavalry ;-); good luck!
