Hi all, I'm trying to get into WW1 at the moment, ably assisted by Renegade's great deals. So here's the first of three or four trench sections I'm going to make. picture picture picture picture picture picture picture The first one's a general shot of the finished item, the others are constructional pics. If they're of any interest, I'll put together a proper walk-through page. Cheers, Colin South London Warlords |

Really nice, been thinking to get some early war Renegades myself. |

Very nice indeed! I have in mind to do a small trench diorama one day and this has perked up my interest again! hussarbob1746.webs.com |

For WW1 trenches, unless its a very quiet sector or 2nd or 3rd line of trenches, forget the grass. Plenty of splintered tree bits, old planks, boxes, general rubbish. Then the wire starts! And the craters & mounds. |

Definitely agree about the wire – I have a stack of 100x60mm bases with sections of wire. Colin |

Second piece is underway – picture picture - this time with a HMG pit / bunker entrance. I will have a removable roof so it can be used as either. That will give me four foot of trenches – enough for the width of a typical 6' x 4' table. One more to go

Very nicley done. What meterials are you using? Is that blue stuff some type of foam insulation? What are the sandbags made of? Thanks. |

Good looking trenches. Very well done. |

Yes, it's insulation foam – 1" thick and cut to shape with a Stanley knife and a breadknife. All based on 3mm MDF. Wooden planks are from coffee stirrers, upright supports are cocktail sticks. Painted with Dulux emulsion paints (they do a great range, and can match a swatch of your usual pasing paints if you ask them to). And the sandbags are Tamiya 1/48 plastic from a box I picked up cheaply somewhere. The next section will have some corrugated iron as well as planks to support the walls of the trenches. |

Colin; thank you for sharing, great looking trenches! Can you possibly give us your opinion of the figures that you decided to use and why? |

Its beautiful work, if only he had split the craft stics to the proper scale and powder burned the impact craters it would have been perfect. Still its very good work. |
