JET,

Another good report, I for one love to see Romans losing, to many rule sets I have played over the years seem to favour them, I understand why but makes for dull games. Impetus is now my preferred choice of rules for ancients and soon to be for medievals.

Keep up the reports,

Mark

Thanks for the comments Mark.

I don't have much game experience with other ancients rulesets, but from those I've read, Impetus "felt" like the right fit for what I was trying to accomplish.

And you're right. The Roman list has some really solid components (Legion for one), but learning how to use the parts, and to plan the manouvering ahead of time is very difficult. It gives one (a very slight and abstract) sense of how frustrating it must have been for a Roman general, halfway into a battle, to realize he should have deployed his forces differently, but due to the rigid formation of the legion, it just wasn't feasible to do so.

And the reports will be kept up!
