Gentlemen, Here's another question that I have been having trouble determining the answer to. I am planning to do one of the mixed Hussar regiments for my Republic army, the 3rd, which had elements from the 4th and 7th hussars, each wearing their respective uniforms. I know that hte Chasseurs a Cheval wore a light green dolman with black cording, but I am not sure what color/shade of green the 7th Hussars wore? Was it a dark green like the Guides, or was it a light green like the Chasseurs? Again my thanks for your help. Terry |

Exactly the same shade as the Chasseurs A Cheval, with 9 rows of yellow braid and brass buttons. Garance collar and cuffs. The 4th were in light grey with white braid and pewter buttons, same number of rows, same cuffs and collar. |

Thanks Captain, That is what I also found today in Knotel after I sent this post. I was looking at the Leinhart and Humbert plate on the Hussars and it looked like a darker shade of green, which is why I asked. Terry |

No problem Terry. When you say you found it in Knotel, what is the name of the book? I know of Knotel but I'm not familiar with any texts. |

Captain H, The Knotel book is called "Handbuch der Uniformkunde", but was also translated and printed in English in 1980. Hope this helps, Terry |
