Which celebrity do you most wish you could engage on the wargames tabletop? |
Ambush Alley Games | 14 May 2009 5:08 p.m. PST |

Can't really think of one. He (or she) would have to be an intellectually interesting person with a good sense of humor who enjoyed gaming. Who that would be, I don't really care. Now, if we were just sitting around discussing their life's work, I'd be interested in a few writers, a director or two, experienced military, astronauts, physicists, that sort of thing. Most pure "celebrities" (actors, etc.) wouldn't make my list. |

People who rate as "celebrities" in the current popular view don't really make my list. I'd be interested in playing a game of WAB (involving Romans, of course) with Adrian Goldsworthy, or a game of Stargrunt II with Joe Haldeman, something like that. Dave |
SECURITY MINISTER CRITTER | 14 May 2009 7:34 p.m. PST |
Don Featherstone of course. The Perry brothers, or Barker. Even OFM! (He's a celebrity in his own mind) 8^) Churchill was a gamer. |

By the way, did everybody see the poll suggestion? No excuses this time. |

Have to agree with irishserb and say Robin Williams. Even before opening up and seeing the responses i already said Robin Williams. Seems to understand he has an extensive Ork 40K army. The game would take damn forever cause ya know you cant keep him attentive on one thing for too long but would be a blast. Hey John, did ya show Megan how the best way to move 'the little men" around on the table? :-) Grimm |
John Leahy | 14 May 2009 8:29 p.m. PST |
General David Petraeus would be interesting. HG Wells would be fun if still around. Thanks, John |

"or Barker" I've had that particular pleasure a few times. What do we mean by 'celebrity'? If wargamers, then I'd have loved to have played 'Battle' with Charles Grant. If you mean film/music stars then I guess Micheal Caine 'driver, advance' or Clint 'do you feel lucky'. I wonder if Robert Plant is a wargamer? He'd be wanting to use his Hammer of the Gods all the time. Johnny Rotten so we could have a cheap holiday in other peoples misery. |

What do we mean by 'celebrity'? Some living person that everyone has heard of. |
Ironwolf | 15 May 2009 5:24 a.m. PST |
Colin Powell in a game of NATO vs WARSAW late 1980's equipment. |
Lentulus | 15 May 2009 5:29 a.m. PST |
"everyone" Is that the *gamer* everyone or the great unwashed everyone? I suppose historians would not count, only people liable to show up on Hollywood Squares or Celebrity Apprentice? There are lots of historians I'd like to game with. Christopher Duffy included game rules in Fire and Stone, so he might be up for a game. Anyway, Paul Gross (Due South, Passchendaele) is one of the few celebrities (by a normal definition) who seems to give a damn about military history, so he might actually enjoy a game. |

I'd love to have an ancients game with Adrian Goldsworthy. Something Colonial with Don Featherstone and something SYW with Charles Grant. I'd also like to have the Perry Brothers and Stuart Asquith along for any of these events. And I'd like to play doctor with Nigella Lawson or Catherine Zeta-Jones

Ric Flair. Each time he made a good move, just to hear the "Wooooo." Dramatic tension would present itself if he lost badly. He might go nuts an slam you across the table. |
richarDISNEY | 15 May 2009 7:49 a.m. PST |
Erica Campbell. There it is. Playing my pulp game. That would rule. Rule forever. And ever. or Flo from the Progressive commercial doing some Chaos in Carpaithia games. or Johny Depp, Kiera Knightly, Orlando Bloom, Jeffery Rush givin' it a go at a pirates game. That would be a hoot! I would love to get a game of that in. One can dream

Hi all, Adrian Goldsworthy plays at the Penarth club in South Wales, and does have very nice Ancients collections. (Against which I think I've never won, and rarely in Napoleonics, though honours are more even in WW2 and ECW!). He usually gives a lecture at the Crusade show in January too. I seem to remember hearing that Edward Woodwood played, and Tory politician William Hague. Definitely think that playing Brian Blessed in Mediaeval skirmish would be a blast!! |

Hmmm. From the ostensibly non-gaming world -- Jim Butcher, Penn Jillette, Quentin Tarantino. Gaming celebrity types -- Kevin Wilson (FFG), Steve Jackson (well, again; got to play in games with him 15 years ago), Chris Pramas. |
