Try rafweb.org If you go to the squadron listings, you'll find that each squadron has a link to profiles of its aircraft, and the squadron symbols are discussed where appropriate. |

BRITISH AVIATION SQUADRON MARKINGS OF WORLD WAR ONE RFC * RAF* RNAS By Les Rodgers published by Schiffler British squadron insignia can best be described as formation signs. And they change periodicly. |

If you can find a copy of "Aircraft Camouflage and Markings 1907-1954" by Bruce Robertson and published by Harleyford, there is a section which covers aircraft markings for about 64 British squadrons for 1917-1918. I have a copy and I've noticed that my local library carries a number Robertson's books, so there might be a chance one near you may also have a copy. |
