Hello!

So far there are two of us firmly committed to playing Naps in 6mm in Canberra, and our armies are bought and on the work benches gatting painted (Russians and French so far).

There has been a little discussion on the CGS Yahoo group, however I wanted to open this up to anyone else nearby that is interested in playing.

We are basing for Shako, however the idea is that we can also use the same units for larger scale games by having them stuck together on a base (there is a method to this madness). Having said that it's early days so…

It's reasonably cheap to get a good size force done in 6mm, and painting is a breeze.

Let me know if you're interested.

Hi

I might be moving to Canberra in the next month or so, I am wantng to get back into 6mm Nappys

I prefer playing Grande Armee (Fast Play) or the Steve Jones Varient link

But willing to give anythng go

Theword26 Jun 2009 11:34 p.m. PST

Hey Steve.

That's great.. myself and one other so far are the only ones that have started painting our armies, and they are looking pretty good. I think we plan on taking our painted units to a CGS meet sometime soonish and see if we can get more people interested. Really, I'm totally sold on both 6mm and using Shako2 for it.. really looks the part.

What army would you consider?

Send me a PM or reply in here when you're close to coming down we'll meet up!

I have always like Russians , sadly the few games of Shako I've played I havant liked the rules..well not that true, but I always prefered Corps level games, as I couldnt be bothered wondering what Battalions are up to…Do you use Baccus or Adler?

Theword27 Jun 2009 5:48 p.m. PST

Hi Steve.

We certainly want to field entire Corps (eventually) for Shako2, and the idea of larger multiplayer games appeals too.

I sold off all my Baccus when I saw Adler so we are using Adler.

I'm doing Russians also but the more the merrier in my opinion. Especially considering as more people get involved I'm sure many will want to do French.

Having said what i have about Shako.. we have based our units on magnetic bases so that, if we felt like it, we coul re-arrange and play a different ruleset.

Well I think I could be persuaded to paint anything except French :)…So once IO get there, I can make a choice at that point

WarDepotDavid28 Jun 2009 2:51 a.m. PST

I play with a group here in Brisbane and we use Adler as well. We use Empire V with some homegrown mods and have been going for years. Together we can field 20+ corps. I also have some Baccus and believe both can work on the same table as long as they are not next to each other.

Good luck with your projects. Keep us up to date in your progress. We want pics!

If any of you are up in Brisbane look me up. We play Friday nights.

A quick question…Does anyone stock Adler in Australia, or do you have to order direct from the UK?…I remember painting up hundreds ages ago for a 6mm F&F project we had on the go

Theword28 Jun 2009 4:16 p.m. PST

I've ordered all of mine direct from Adler.. not sure if there's a stockist here. Don't think so.

Cheers,

No stockists here as far as I know. I get them direct as well. Besides the scores from ebay that is!

Well all this talk of Adler has led me to a conclusion …I hate you all…I've looking at Age of Eagles again now, and thinking how cool it would look in mass 6mm ( I've seen it in 15mm and it looks pretty cool in that scale to)

Oh my poor bank balance

Theword30 Jun 2009 6:29 a.m. PST

Yep I've just made another order.. I'm a firm believer in ordering more lead before you've painted what you've got.

I'm going to take some Pics tomorrow of what I've painted so far and post them so you can see how fantastic they look based for shako2.

TW,

There are a few of us Canberran blokes who do naps using Shako2 but we are 15mm and try to catch up at the Serbian club Club (Mawson, one sunday a month), and on occasions at the deakin bridge club (thursday nights). I hardly ever make it but am there in spirit.

I do recall a fellow by the name of John who goes a bit to the Serbian Club does 6mm shako. He also put on a game at Cancon this year.

My eyesight is not what it used to be so I have upgraded to 15mm (OG/AB/BH )so am left with a bit of Adler french and Heroic & Ros french/british. Mostly unpainted.

PM me your address and I'll send them to you. They are just gathering dust around my place and it sounds like you blokes could use 'em.

cheers
Gary

Theword03 Jul 2009 6:27 p.m. PST

Thanks Gary.. will do.

Wish I had gone to Cancon now, something silly came up that weekend for me so I didn't attend.

Be good to find out who this John chap is too as I'm sure he could use a couple of extra players!

Yep I just thought I was "special" and couldn't figure out how to do it!

tacc1324 Aug 2009 5:43 a.m. PST

What are the base sizes for Shako? I have a fair bit of 6mm French and Austrians, but they are based 60x30 for Polemos. I'm currently in Adelaide but will probably end up in Canberra.

Cheers

Theword24 Aug 2009 6:07 a.m. PST

We are using 15x40 for inf and 40x30 for Cav and arty.

You can see what I've done so far at my blog:

My Ruskies look pretty good IMO and my bud who's doing French look fantastic.

Really looking forward to playing a game soon.. and the more the merrier = )
