Subject: Westland Lysander
Manufacturer: Old Glory UK
Scale: 1/100 link
Medium: Resin with metal detail parts
Price: £9.00 GBP

The kit consists of three resin parts (fuselage and wings) and several metal detail parts (horizontal stabs, wheels, bombs, exhaust stack, struts, tail wheel, prop hub, gunner, etc. Also included are a ladder and a long range fuel tank for the special ops missions. The kit includes a diagram which indicates the location of the various parts. For the most part the components went together well after some trimming and cleaning. The kit had a number of small air pockets on the bottom of the fuselage but they were easy enough to fill. I've formed the clear rear canopy but haven't painted or attached it yet.

Recommendation: I recommend having some modeling experience before attempting this kit.

Other: The kits are available from the UK. Postage to Virginia (USA) wasn't bad at all. Andy was very helpful with the whole international order thing.

Post assembly:
Decals: I-94 Enterprises i-94enterprises.com
Paint: Vallejo Model Colors Pastel Green, Bronze Green, and Beige Brown
Primer: Rust-Oleum Gray Automotive Primer
Matte Finish: Krylon Crystal Clear Matte

Wow, it looks great! You've done an excellent job on what looks like a challenging kit. I've always liked the look of the Lysander.

Very nice. Does the canopy come with parts to close the back section. Been looking for one to use in France when they landed special ops troops for the French Resitance.

Ed, thanks, yes the kit comes with a resin bit if you want a closed canopy. It also comes with a piece of clear sheet plastic if you want to make the canopy in the open position. I've yet to paint and attach the clear canopy. In the attached picture I've heated the clear plastic and am seen smashing the clear plastic over the resin bit … smash-u-form as it were. Kevin
