Would any one else be interested in 1/800th plastic ships of the Warraing States and Korean Invasion? A turtleboat in this size would work out to about 1.5 inches long. Obviously these would not be overly impressive visually but the idea I am going for is to be able to game some of the larger naval engagements at a 1:1 scale and an affordable price. At that scale, you would be able to get about 8 warships (some large, medium and small craft) on 1 plastic sprue for the price of $5. USD For $50 USD you would be able to man an 80 ship fleet. And at this size, your paint time would not be very long per ship. The makeup of a Korean sprue of ships might be 1 Turtleboat, 4 Panokson Battleships, and 3 smaller craft. The Japanese would be maybe 3 Atake Bune, 3 Seki Bune, and 2 smaller craft (Kobaya). Let me know if this sound good to any one else or what improvemnets I could make to help the idea sell well. |

Yes, I would be extremely interested. See my posting against your earlier message regarding rules :) |

I guess I should have read this reply first Dave ;-) Glad to know you are interested and dont mind the scale. Here is a list of Admiral Yis major battles and the number of ships involved. Thats why I believe 1/800 is the scale to go with. The first number is the Korean ships, the second the Japanese, and the third, the number of ships lost by the Japanese. Ill post the link to this info below as well. Any other takers? 1 5/7/1592 Okpo 27 26 26 enemy ships sunk 2 5/7/1592 Happo 27 5 5 enemy ships sunk 3 5/8/1592 Chokjinpo 27 13 11 enemy ships sunk 4 5/29/1592 Sachon 26 13 13 enemy ships sunk 5 6/2/1592 Tangpo 27 21 21 enemy ships sunk 6 6/5/1592 Tanghangpo 51 26 26 enemy ships sunk 7 6/7/1592 Yulpo 51 7 7 enemy ships sunk 8 7/8/1592 Hansan-do 56 73 47 enemy ships sunk 12 enemy ships captured 9 7/10/1592 Angolpo 56 42 42 enemy ships sunk 10 8/29/1592 Changrimpo 81 6 6 enemy ships sunk 11 9/1/1592 Hwajungumi 81 5 5 enemy ships sunk 12 9/1/1592 Tadaepo 81 8 8 enemy ships sunk 13 9/1/1592 Sopyongpo 81 9 9 enemy ships sunk 14 9/1/1592 Cholyong-do 81 2 2 enemy ships sunk 15 9/1/1592 Choryangmok 81 4 4 enemy ships sunk 16 9/1/1592 Pusanpo 81 470 128 enemy ships sunk 17 3/4/1594 Jinhae 30 10 10 enemy ships sunk 18 3/5/1594 Tanghangpo 124 50 21 enemy ships sunk 19 9/29/1594 Changmunpo 50 117 2 enemy ships sunk 20 9/16/1597 Myongnyang 13 330 31 enemy ships sunk 90 enemy ships severely damaged 21 7/18/1598 Choli-do ? 100 50 enemy ships sunk 22 9/20/1598 Chang-do 211 (Korea 83+China 128) ? 30 enemy ships sunk 11 enemy ships captured 23 11/18/1598 Noryang 146 (Korea 83+ China 63 500 450 enemy ships sunk link |

Yes, I would be interested in some. I scratchbuilt a 1/100 turtle ship last year (would have been 1/50 but that would have been too big for the tabletop) |

I would be VERY interested but only in 1/900 or 1/1200 models. Ciao Luciano |

I know it's not helpful, but I'm interested in 28mm vessels. |

For me 1/1200th scale would be a perfect scale to game this period. I'd buy the mini's if they came in 1/1200th scale. Captain Gideon |

For that period I would be happy with anything in any scale. I have been looking for the old OOP Knight Design Asian ships which included a turtle ship as well as number of junks. |

Absolutely interested! Am working on scratch-built vessels now due to the paucity of available East Asian ship models on the market. Scale sounds about right and the price reasonable. How soon would these be available? Marv

Great initiative! I would probably only buy samples, though, because I would prefer a scale that could be used in amphibious "interactions" with shore, for example 1:300 (6mm size?), 1:200 (10mm size?) or 1:120 (15mm size?). |

Marv, hard to say. The idea has been warmly received in the Yahoo Asian Warfare group as well which makes me believe that this is doabale. Heres the catch
I would be commissioning these through Wargames Factory. It takes 1000 plastic sprues to be pre-ordered (at no cost to order!) for an idea to be made. At 500 pre-orders they begin desinging it and post computer rendered pics on their web page. Its a fantastic way to get hard to get minis made. So to answer your question, as soon as we can get 1000 of these pre-ordered by folks it would be put into production (which would take 30-60 days to start shipping after that, best estimate). I myself would start with about 20 sprues of both the Japanese and Korean sprues, so thats 2% of the way already! |

1:1200 would fit with many existing naval ranges, then other Asiatic ships (particularly ancient/medieval Chinese) could be added. I understand the urge for 1:800 but once you try to match larger ships they get pretty big. Current ranges are 1:1200, 1:900, 1:600, 1:300 and bigger 'kits'. |
